Re: Minerva Mk2 Remake

The chances of getting a Minerva Rom with RTC (or GC/SGC) seem very slim to nil these days Would a QIMSI with buffered RTC be a solution? Hardware-wise an I²C RTC and buffer are prepared on the QIMSI PCB bottom already. I'd need to develop a (moderate) FPGA change and some software to read / write ...

Re: QL replica

On fast platforms, such as QPC and SMSQmulator its negligible. Those are software emulators using Windows/Linux drivers. The issue was native hardware drivers. Yet on really slow systems with limited memory, such as the BBQL, slaving is a positive. True for floppy and microdrives, but with QL mass ...

Re: Using the QIMSI-QL Link

Jan, Peter, thanks once again for the responses and support for this QIMSI feature. QIMSI's serial port has only minimal buffering so it's very likely that wrongly connecting pins 2 and 3 will fry your QIMSI, especially with PC ports which use 'real' RS-232 signal levels of +12 and -12 volts (unlik...

Re: Using the QIMSI-QL Link

Peter, Jan, ... thanks so much for that development. It is a very interesting complement to QIMSI. Thanks. Some time ago I also wrote a program to configure baudrate settings etc. from QL side, that I didn't release due to lack of time. With sufficient interest, I'll look into it again. The QIMSI s...

Re: Anouncement for the 40th Anniversary of the Sinclair QL in Dormagen (Germany)

The Website offers Croatian, Dutch, English, French, Italian, Polish and Spanish language - so the Hotel is obviously interested in international guests and did not intend this nonsense. Detlef, maybe you can ask them to fix this ?

Re: QL replica

Perhaps not, but the "temporary hack" to limit the memory available to slaving has virtually neutralised any symptoms. No it didn't. Still only FS.LOAD works at full speed on native hardware, even under SMSQ/E which contains this hack. We lack the manpower to get rid of a 40 year old perf...

Re: QL replica

While development may be slow, drivers for dangling hardware may appear eventually, viz the network driver. This only worked (within modest limits) because: 1. All my hardware was designed with units that were especially simple and well suited for QL driver development. No USB for example. 2. I wro...

Re: FPGA replacment for the ZX8301 ULA and more

After a lot of trial and error, the logic now supports the KM4164A-15 DRAM used in many German QLs. But it fails with GoldCard and SuperGoldCard as I already suspected. I have to stop further experiments at this point, because I don't want to wear out the ULA socket. Still some stretch of road to go...

Not the same ULA replacement. A different version, both PCB and CPLD, than mine.
