Re: New Forum

Can you try this test again please? Oh dear! it seems the cpu usage is still high on the board index page but not the thread of this message or the Edit Post creation pages. It is still sitting at 25%+ on the board index page and it can hit 40% by moving the mouse particularly over underlined objec...

Re: New Forum

Can you try this test again please? The cpu load has disappeared. :) You can use the CPU monitor to see the difference. On Suse Linux I just press CTRL & ESC to pop it up. Previously your site used +25% continuously now it is down to flashing between 6% and nothing when in focus like other site...

Re: USB Keyboard IF

No, Spectratur translates key strokes, not characters. So when pressing the three keys on the USB keyboard, three distinct key events are generated. Each of those gets translated into the closing of the appropriate switch in the MT88xx switch matrix. Thanks for explaining I haven't looked into how ...

Thanks but it doesn't answer my question of how they are handled. Is the triplet a unique ascii code converted to the pressing of three lines?

Re: QL Power Supply Primary Winding

The meter would be applying a constant DC voltage. The component tester (using ATmega328) would, I assume, be repeatedly applying a slow varying (or step) voltage to judge inductance, so the extra resistance value is from reactance. At 50Hz the reactance would add considerably to the effective resi...

How does a USB keyboard deal with the triple key presses of the QL mechanism delete word left & right as CTRL & ALT & back or forward arrow?

ones' complement wrote: Sat Dec 03, 2022 4:54 pmSame as mine, about 67ohm.
Why does your inductance meter say 93.5R? Just curious why DC resistance would be different between meters. :?

Re: Keyboard from where

You mean something like this? Sort of but not so complex. I didn't consider the length of a key press, then went in a big loop thinking about key on key off status ending up deciding it was all irrelevant. All I have to do is place what ever key is received by my PIC on one scan of the QL ke...

Re: New Forum

I just noticed if I open another tab in Firefox so the QL forum is not the focus the cpu load disappears if that helps identify the massive cpu load used by your not so green site despite the colour.

Re: Keyboard from where

Back again with stupid questions. I assume the standard QL uses just the keys listed on the matrix but do QL programs use control and alt keys to give other codes? I have a slight change of plan as it seems I can use any computer as a keyboard using a teletype program to send serial data via USB and...
