Re: Microdeal QL Flight Simulator and Hardware Conflict?
In the end, the key is to use the RES_128 command before booting the program. Launching it from 3.5 floppy is wonderfully quick.

Re: Microdrive R&R
Wow. Extremely helpful guidance. I'll be careful to make certain the replacement drive matches the precise form factor of the original. Should be fun....

Microdrive R&R
After much diagnosis, I've determined that MDV2 on my original black box is a lost cause - faulty r/w head. I'd like to remove and replace the unit with a known working spare that I have on-hand. I have the service manual to provide some guidance. Am also hunting for any step-by-step or YouTube vide...

Microdeal QL Flight Simulator and Hardware Conflict?
I just added a SGC to my QL and have found that Microdeal QL Flight Simulator won't run. When I load and try to run the simulator, the screen very slowly loads with graphic blocks, the MDV spins endlessly, and the program never gets to a launch screen. If I remove the SGC, the program runs great. Do...

Re: Miracle Systems Dual 3.5" Floppy Drives
Rich,
Thanks so much. You diagnosed the issue perfectly: I had the ribbon cable incorrectly attached to the FLP3 connector. Moved to the other connector and everything is working!

Miracle Systems Dual 3.5" Floppy Drives
I just acquired a Miracle Systems SGC and companion dual 3.5 ED floppy drives. The SGC is working great (so it seems) but I'm having difficulty with the disk drives. Basically, the cables to/from drives and SGC is connected, looks clean (no breaks), and the disk drives are receiving the requisite 5V...

Re: US QL 8-PIN DIN
Solved this on my own by trying it out and holding my breath. Everything worked fine. So, QL/SCART adapter cable plugged into SCART/HDMI converter in turn connected via HDMI cable to LCD TV works greater using the same 8-pin DIN video out cable on both US and UK versions of the QL.

System tests
Does anyone know of a repository of free- or shareware routines for testing QL hardware: memory, storage device read/write, keyboard, video, sound, port speeds?

US QL 8-PIN DIN
Hello, I have a U.K. QL that I've successfully hooked up to my NTSC 1080p TV using a QL-SCART cable and SCART-HDMI converter box from HK. I've been pondering using the same set of connections (not the boring AV RCA port) to connect my US QL to the hi-def TV's HDMI port. Here's the thing. I remember ...

QL Microdrive
Hello, I have an unmodified QL that I've dusted off and brought back to life. All is all expected MDV2 runs continuously when I issue a dir or format command (or any drive command for that matter). The old service manual suggests replacing the ZX551 transistor (TR6). Before I pull out the soldering ...
