Re: QL Software Preservation - Next Steps

When people say they would like more QL software to be freely available, exactly what software or kinds of software do they mean? That's a pretty good question - because these days, I feel I have everything available freely that I might have liked to have "back in the days" Exactly. And I...

Re: QL Software Preservation - Next Steps

why not keep it intimate, almost exclusive I understand your argument, but let's be very careful. Let's remember that to broaden the horizons is always a good plan: new ideas, energies and fresh projects usually come from uotside. I know, but isn't there enough free stuff for people to develop new ...

Re: QL Software Preservation - Next Steps

You have a good point but at the same time it can hinder newcomers in joining the QL community. With software being so readily available (legal or otherwise -- and I'm not supporting "otherwise" here) for other platforms, it doesn't bode as well for the QL. If the community doesn't grow, ...

Re: QL Software Preservation - Next Steps

I actually quite like the fact that a lot of QL software is not publicly available. It makes collecting the originals a lot more interesting, especially when you successfully recover data from a mouldy old microdrive cart and it works! The whole thing is a challenge due to the lack of availability o...

£150 boxed QL in UK

A heads up on this one - nothing to do with me and I don't know the seller: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164868041734 A boxed bargain! I'd buy it if it wasn't for the extra taxes now and the fact that I have enough to be getting on with (picked up another German one the other day, just because the box...

Re: Read Only error with Gold Card and QubIDE

A lot of CF cards don't work at all with QubIDE, I think because there have been slightly different standards over the years. There's no way of knowing just from the manufacturer, size/specs. You may have to try a few different ones with the WIN_FORMAT, WIN_DISK etc procedure as described above befo...

Re: More recent mdv discoveries

Of the remaining carts, here were the most interesting discoveries: QIMP (QL Icon Manager Program - see pic) - v1.50 1986 by L. Hirschbiegel. Can find nothing whatsoever about it or the author. Looks like an interesting icon/menu environment. Works with cursor keys or mouse (not sure what type of mo...

Yes, I think you're right as the style of the label is the same as other QL World exchange carts that I have.
