Re: Reverse engineering rare hardware

I have been steadily working on this. Currently I have a SRAM memory expansion prototype, working floppy expansion based on the Sandy SuperQBoard, and the big one is a complete QL replacement board with 24 MHz 68020, on-board floppy, IDE and tons of RAM. These will take a while, and nothing's guaran...

Re: Fun things to do with an MC68EC020....

Nasta: How much of the work you did with Goldfire could be retargeted to a regular 680x0? How easy would it be to retarget the custom logic to a readily available FPGA? Even a 68020 board based on that technology would kick ass, even if it is maybe 1/50th of the speed it could have achieved! Everyon...

Re: Looking for a QL serial cable

That's a great deal - £5 is below the cost price of the parts.

Re: QL Show 13th / 14th April 2013

Yes but... :) phpBB doesn't have the architecture to do that well. It's unattractive ;) I think people can see the utility of Dilwyn's site, with links that are book-markable and descriptions of the contents. That can be done here but would be less intuitive. Also, it has less persistence because it...

Re: QL Show 13th / 14th April 2013

One problem is phpBB is not intended for or set up for storing files and software. There are a few solutions to this - some deeply technical like running a shared RADIUS authentication server, but others could be quite simple. One idea is to have a global username and password, updated annually and ...

Re: QL Is 30

The server is set up and the software is installed and being set up. I'm distracted right now by the attack in Boston...

I would be happy to help and/or cooperate with Quanta and the QL Forum in any useful way.

Re: CTL plug type

The 631 is dissimilar to the 630 because it has a different key on the back preventing it being inserted into a 630 socket.

Re: CTL plug type

The serial ports use style 630W. The joystick ports use style 630A. These are still manufactured and in use by some european companies for internal interconnects. As for where to get them :) Good luck!
