Re: OqtaDrive
... for anyone who's looking for a truly standalone Microdrive hardware emulator that simply needs a QL to get it up and running. Actually, OqtaDrive + a Raspberry Pi is truly standalone. The last missing piece is controlling it from the QL/Spectrum, but for that I already have a few ideas. Hi Alex...
Re: OqtaDrive
Great to see such interest in the humble Microdrive with some new emulation hardware on the scene! Was a bit disappointed though, I must admit, that on reading through the source, I couldn't find any 68000 assembly code anywhere ( and I thought this was a retro project ...) Full discosure: I'm the m...

Re: My ZX81's stopped working. :-(
Do chips actually turn out to be defective out of the box? Never had this problem myself but then I only had pretty low volumes. Also, I tend to try to get my boards pre-assembled, so checking them beforehand becomes difficult ;) Unfortunately, due to the global chip shortage, there are very few (o...

Re: My ZX81's stopped working. :-(
A bit late with the post but thought I'd add that occasionally new components do fail. I do test all main components such as CPLDs prior to assembly and fully test completed units before shipping but there will always be a small number of random failures soon after installation (anyone remember the...

Hi Dilwyn, dilwyn wrote:Thanks guys. I've zipped up the three Swedish ROM versions and preserved them on my site...l[/url]
I have managed to get the correct rom image (attached). The QDOS version is 1Y13 and the ID returned by PRINT VER$ is 'MGB'
Cheers,

Re: Swedish MGB ROM
I don't suppose one of you could supply a copy of the ROM for preserving? I've not come across this one before. Don't even know its copyright status (assuming it was privately produced). Hi Dilwyn, I have a copy (attached) but I'm having trouble getting it to run on Qemulator (the MGS rom works fin...

Swedish MGB ROM
I have a customer who has a QL ROM I've never come across before (Dilwyn's site doesn't mention it at all). PRINT VER$ gives MGB and the language is Swedish. I'm guessing it's a variant of the MGS ROM but has quite a few differences (from a code diff - I haven't invetsigated further). Does anyone he...

Re: Microdrive data line format
I think gertk stopped working on this due to time constraints back then. According to the document history of the vDrive manuals (ZX & QL), they were first released in 2017. Not sure about the firmware lineage though, since it's closed source. The vDrive was developed from early 2015 through to...

Re: vDrive QL format error
Hi, I've also replied on SMR. In the meantime I'll need a few details: 1. QL board issue 2. After the format failure, enter VINFO and report if there is any error code listed 3. I expect this has already been done, but check the cable and clean the connectors. 4. Copy a known MDV image (you can get ...
