I imagine to have the device tcp_ need some extension, which one?

It's a build-in device driver on QPC2 and Qemulator (and uqlx I presume). You don't have to load any extension.

Re: Sinclair Retro BBS online!

If you want I can test it for you ;) Send me the entire Superbasic program and I will try to use it. Thanks. P.S.: can you also help Giorgio to make it works on his Black Phoenix too? These lines are all you need. It simply declares a procedure 'Telnet' which you can call to connect and start up th...

Re: Sinclair Retro BBS online!

On Q emulator just tested seems it doesn't work. Can you do it a Q Emu version of this superbasic SW? Q Emu have TCP/IP too ;) I don't have a registered copy of Qemulator and the TCP/IP device doesn't work in unregistered mode  I haven't tested it yet on uqlx; will try tomorrow... later, Jan.

Re: Sinclair Retro BBS online!

I've managed to get the Maximus BBS working under Windows 7 and NetFoss! I need to do a few more tweaks but I expect it to go online via Telnet in a few days. I have experimented with the tcp_ device under QPC2. It is possible to open a TCP/IP connection to port 23 on the remote machine, but the Tel...

Re: Sinclair Retro BBS online!

Hi Jan, I always found Maximus a little slow on a DOS based PC, I used to use the Remote Access BBS system on a 80486 based PC, which allowed a more flexible system. But I switched to Qbox then Pbox when I escaped from he North East of England to East Midlands. Can a QBOX not be configured to conne...

Re: Sinclair Retro BBS online!

I just discovered NetFoss which is a FOSSIL driver which emulates a Hayes-compatible modem in conjunction with a Telnet daemon under Windows. So I can run Maximus in a DOS box under Windows 7 with the setup from the old system. I'm now preparing a Windows 7 installation on a Pentium 4 of 2003 which...

Re: Sinclair Retro BBS online!

We can try to extract all you messages and put it on a modern Mystic BBS like ours ;) As I told you before ;) It will be very nice for us to do. Well I guess there are some people who would be surprised to see their rants of 25 years ago re-published :D However my first priority is to get the file ...

Re: Sinclair Retro BBS online!

Hi Jan, I started out with a BBS with Qbox on a Trump Card QL then progressed to Supergold card and Super Hermes. But started to use Remote Access BBS system on a PC, because of Zmodem, ANSI graphics and more flexibility. I thought your software was excellent, Phil Borman expanded the functionality...
