Re: QUANTA
You're a lot better off being in the UK - us foreign members really don't get much benefit, since the website is truly awful, and most of the services benefit from, you know, being in a nearby country.

Re: Preventative Medecine
You'll find that replacing the electrolytic closest to the 7805 on the +5v line is useful. Buy a replacement membrane before you even open the QL - it will not work once stressed by opening the case - the original ones are ALL crispy. I recommend RWAP's supply for those - they're fresh, well made an...

Re: Microdrive data line format
Are you saying no, or are you saying, yes, IF you plug a bridge into the mdv sockets on the motherboard?

Re: Microdrive data line format
Are mdv1_ and mdv2_ addresses/data also ported out the expansion port?
If so, that could create an ideal situation where mdv1 hardware could be retained while copying everything across, and when the need to read real microdrives was eliminated, the mdv1 hardware could be removed too, and emulated.

I have A, B, C, D, E, H, I and J down. I can arrange F. G is difficult this month due to financial paralysis (just had two wisdom teeth out, and.... American healthcare prices a nonsensical!) but that's going to resolve next month :) I have stock of many standard items like DIN connectors etc., and ...

Re: Where to begin?
Wow! We head into the summer break, so I think it's safe to go get my wisdom teeth out, and I come back to 3,000 emails and a few dozen posts on here. Oh well! *digs in!* Welcome to the QL, Simon. I think your comments about SuperBASIC are spot on, and more. Spectrum BASIC is a good subset of the QL...

Re: Microdrive data line format
Given the limitations of microdrives, if you're replacing the hardware that sits in the microdrive bays ANYWAY, why not use a floppy driver-based system? Given the extra simplicity and reliability, and roughly equal cost, it's an easier development path.
This is a cool project though.

Re: Internal ram upgrade to 640k
I would be interested in making a few of these for sale. They would be quite cheap and easy to make.
