That's why I initially asked if you'd replace the CPU also. It was not totally obvious for me that you own hundreds of PLCC 68008. ;)
These CPUs are probably cheaper than the sockets mentioned above?

Re: Today I Received...

I say V2 because they released a "Coldfire" family member before the version Nasta used. So yes, the MCF5102. I wonder which chip you mean. To my knowledge the MCF5102 is the first generation Motorola Coldfire CPU, hence the 51xx. Coldfire V2 is a standing expression for the 52xx range. O...

Re: QL Ethernet expansion card project

The struggle is real... qdos-gcc to the rescue. Unfortunately, the libraries still seem to come from the C68 distribution but at least the optimiser works plus there's a functioning inline "asm" directive which makes it easier to work around some of the more ....ahem... "interesting&...

Re: Today I Received...

The FLX68000 is an interesting chip for a future "improved Gold Card" but would only come close to SGC speeds. A potential point for the FLX68000 versus SGC would be costs and availability. But that alone hardly justifies the development work - also on the software side! Now, the Coldfire...

Re: Ethernet for the QL

I recently ordered a bunch of MPE-GARRY 006-1-032-D-B3STF-XS0. Best pins for such a task, just frigging expensive. Indeed. € 4,23 and one needs two of them. But at least a possibility. SMD mounted turned pins on the lower side of the board, leaving the top side completely free. How can you leave th...

Re: QL Ethernet expansion card project

Actually, in the case of W5300, one should talk about a "TCP/UDP controller" rather than an "ethernet controller". That's to the point. And I think in terms of memory footprint and practicability, offloading TCP/UDP to a different CPU has the edge. Using an ethernet controller d...

Re: Today I Received...

Freescale was having another clear-out and I got a half pallet of this stuff. Cool... you are wizard in sourcing parts. ;) These are fast and run cool, but MAPBGA144 packages: After soldering Qzeros manually, I've become quite reckless regarding BGA packages, so I'd find it exciting if really fast....

Sounds very interesting! You will need a socket with long pins - isn't that a problem for 48 pin sockets? Or would you replace the CPU also?

Re: Ethernet for the QL

Unrepresentative, personal taste: I wouldn't use the long card at all, unless I have to.

A medium sized card without through connector that just has the ethernet on the back and RAM would be better for me than that.
