Re: User meeting in Spain to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Sinclair QL

https://sinclairqles.files.wordpress.com/2024/01/gigantografia.jpeg Coming soon... Very soon we will report on the workshop, which had 40 visitors and in which there were interviews and tinkering. A little disappointed that the pic is not a Spanish QL keyboard. But pleased you stopped at 40 visitor...

Re: Switching Regulator?

I think the left pin when you look at the QL from the front is the input, but am not 100% without checking. Just check it with a multimeter, the output pin will be 5v.

Re: Match Point Corrupt

Be interesting to dump the Qlone+ cart of Matchpoint to see if the image exactly matches the dump of an original. I've never tried Qlone+.

Re: ICL OPD

Ah yes, sorry I should have actually looked at the files with KiCad and not just Gerber viewer.

Blimey though, those WD1772 chips are expensive to source. I thought I'd have one somewhere, but it was the WD1770 I was confusing it for.

Re: ICL OPD

Here's the ROM image. Thanks for sharing that. I can't find at a glace what the electrolytic capacitor values should be or the details of the resistor network. The chips and resistors are clearly visible. I've ordered some PCBs and am looking forward to setting it up with the OPD. Pr0f, I'm sure an...

Re: Match Point Corrupt

You have to use mcopy_exe to put an image back onto a real cart. Is that what you meant? If you're trying to use mdump_task and save the resultant image onto a real cart then it is likely to fail because mdump_task will try to save an image file onto the cart (not the files/directory structure) and ...

Re: ICL OPD

The interface maps the floppies to the left and right Microdrives. As far as the system and applications are concerned it still has only the two Microdrives and nothing else. Oh right, well I suppose that makes things easier in many respects. Attached is the 'Welcome' cartridge - the welcome/intro ...

Re: ICL OPD

I've no idea how to access it from BASIC at the moment as I don't have a fully working version of BASIC as that comes on Microdrive and isn't built in. As for the design being published. I'll work on a Mk.II which will fix a few things such as the connector having to be on the "wrong" sid...

Re: ICL OPD

No way, that's incredible! Hat's off. I assume from Basic you access the floppy with flp1_, just like on a QL? And can the resultant disks (or disk images) be read with a QL/QL emulator?

Will you be making the PCB design and other details public? I'd love to add FDD to my OPD.

Re: Solid State Microdrive Cartridge?

I wondered about that in the past. If it were technically possible I wonder if the main issue may be finding suitable heads that are still being made and also, as the head is actually fatter (taller) than a cartridge, is there even a currently manufactured head available that would be technically su...
