Re: All I want for Christmas.....
Isn't the ROM to RAM just to speed up the data access? No, SGC copies the QL ROM to RAM and then patches it. I.e., if you have Minerva ROM inthe QL, SGC loads and patches Minerva ROM and runs with it, if you have JS ROM, SGC loads and patches JS ROM. I'm surprised about the 68020 being slowed down ...

Re: All I want for Christmas.....
Don't forget, we need 68000 core only! No 68020, no 68030, ... Even the Super Gold Card, with 68020 processor, does many tricks (e.g. copying of ROM to RAM and patching, turning caches off, ...) to throw all 68020 enhancements away, and ensure as full as possible 68000 compatibility. The QL and its ...

Re: Kempston Micro Disk QL Interface
Must be a good day for ebay, I got lucky and snaffled this up as newly listed. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130595262727 Don't forget to buy a Hermes chip for this one, as the Schön keyboard bounces and makes repeated keyclicks (which can be corrected only by replacing the standard 8049 by the Hermes...

Re: Shielding a QL, issues and questions.
Alternatively you could run a cable from your shield connection to the big shiny metal case of the RF modulator. This way is it done in the case of german Samsung QL. Modulator has a metal plate for connection with the cover piece (with keyboard) and is connected using a wire to the metal plate on ...

Re: Shielding a QL, issues and questions.
European (German) Samsung QLs were sprayed inside with metal silver color, and there were small metal plates grounded on the main board with contact to the inner side of the case.

Re: Windows BASIC programming skills Required
Which Basic for Windows?
We use Real Basic, as it is more coder-friendly as the Visual Basic by Microsoft.
We use the development environment on a Mac, but it is able to compile the code for Mac OS (PPC) and Mac OS X, Windows and Linux (x86 only, with GTK2).

Re: usbwiz ser-usb interface
Here. It is perfect thing, if You have Hermes or SuperHemes. With speed of 19200 bd, it is well useable. It runs on plain QL (without Hermes), too, but the waiting for a file to load is then slow as a microdrive or maybe slower. The only issue was, that there was a bug in MOUNT command, so I'm waiti...

Re: CP/M
Yes, there is a version of CP/M-68k by Quest Automation, widely announced in the press. But, 68k CP/M cannot run the software for CP/M-80. And, there are only a few titles for CP/M-68k (something here: http://www.cpm.z80.de/download/68k_pgms.zip ). That's why the CP/M-68k was not very popular (actua...
