Re: PiStorm

It's a comparatively small effort to try QL compatibility of the PiStorm CPU emulation with QDOS Classic on Amiga and a few pieces of "demanding" QL code. The emulation should be tried first, so things don't end up in a disaster. If not even such a first little step can be achieved within ...

Re: PiStorm

Hardware is the smaller challenge. Various configurations, timings and functions in the software need to be changed from Amiga to QL, which is not trivial. The QL operating systems also need to be changed to deal with the new timings. Moreover, I have doubts that EMU68 has been suffciently debugged ...

If you really need to use a pure USB keyboard (for a wired keyboard you probably don't) it is better to use an active USB-PS/2 adaptor.

Re: FPGA replacment for the ZX8301 ULA and more

I haven't all the posts but could it be possible to use your PCB and design an adapter board with the socket for CPU and 8301 routed to a DIN41612, this instead of having to reroute the PCB? This can make sense for just two or three boards. But if a little series production is intended, I would not...

Re: FPGA replacment for the ZX8301 ULA and more

PCEN peripheral chip enable. Surely any ZX8301 replacement will need to provide it for ZX8302 on pre issue 6 QLs (also TXOE). Thanks, I forgot and just looked at the issue 6 schematics. Pity an expansion port solution fails just because of that. Another thought might be whether the ZX8301 needs to ...

Not obvious to me why you'd need that.

Re: SD Card Reader

As the SD card is not accessible, I wouldn't see the internal QL version as self-contained. With the QL case closed, one requires a PC and Wifi connection to exchange data. Sure. And what do you use to write/read to/from SD cards? QL and QL and Q68 and Q60. The SD card works as a removable medium b...

Re: SD Card Reader

For the QL, there's also an internal version (again self-contained). As the SD card is not accessible, I wouldn't see the internal QL version as self-contained. With the QL case closed, one requires a PC and Wifi connection to exchange data. Nice for those who prefer remote-controlled retro-computi...

Re: FPGA replacment for the ZX8301 ULA and more

And also this way it works also as a ULA replacement (I mean without the need of a ULA). Can't remember the details of your ever-changing projects, but you seemed to have your own RAM on this one. So I can't see why the board needs to sit in the ULA socket to replace it. RGB and the SYNC signals ar...
