Umm, .WIN is just an image of at least one of these "real" formats.Ralf R. wrote:And not to forget the three "real" harddisk formats, one on the Atari ST (the first one from TT) and one on the Qxx and the Miracle harddisk. These are the only real harddisk formats.

Re: Making QL Software More Accessible
One of the most compatible formats, except ZIP, is actually the .WIN format. It can be read by QPC, SMSQmulator, QemuLator, QXL, Q68, Qx0 and original QLs using QL-SD. .WIN files can be as little as 1MB for small distributions (and further ZIPed if needed to make them only a few kb big). Or you can ...

Re: PC mouse to QL conversion project
If one has got a Qimi interface (or a SQB with mouse support) then you can use an Atari mouse. Alternatively PS/2 compatible mice can be used with an adapter https://www.kilgus.net/2017/01/30/of-mice-and-men-but-mostly-mice/ , USB compatible mice can also be used, for example using SmallyMouse2 (I h...

Also they have added MCS-51 compatibility to the II but not MCS-48 I'd have bought it (again) if it supported MCS-48 (like 8049/8749).

Re: My Gold Card is faster than yours! Well nope it doesn't work.
I have a TL866A with the extra port. It's pretty good and the supported devices list is incredibly long. I have just seen that the TL866A and TL866CS are not in production anymore, there is now a TL866 II+ instead. Also, they have open source PC/Mac/Linux software. This is a reverse engineering eff...

Re: SCREEN1 = SYSVAR @ JSROM
Nothing wrong with being a hobbyist. But as far as I can see the option is to either completely take over the QL as Tobias described (some of the best games do this) or use Minerva which has perfectly fine screen1 capability. I just don't see the point in doing this work while QDOS is running and th...

Re: Hello & help needed with QL networking and TK2
I realise now that only if the requested file-type (passed in d7) is non-zero will the file-header then be read, thus (in src/sbsext/ut/opdefx_asm): uod_chk btst #uod..typ0,d7 ; type zero files only? beq.s uod_rts ; ... no, OK jsr ut_fhead ; read file header .... Actually you left out the most cruc...

Re: My Gold Card is faster than yours! Well nope it doesn't work.
Thank you Marcel for your inputs. I guess this is yet another project in the list of "to do". But if I want to modify the Minerva ROM, first I need to buy an eprom programmer. I suggest the TL866: https://www.kilgus.net/2017/03/05/german-minerva-rom/ it can do most things for just 30€ or ...

Re: Hello & help needed with QL networking and TK2
It does seem odd that TK2 SAVEs BASIC files (over the network) without the header, but expects a header on LOAD. I agree - arguably a design-bug in TK2. No, there is no need to explicitly write a header because a default header (or rather directory entry, except MDV I don't think any device driver ...
