Gold Card ROM Shadowing

Is there any information, at which address (if any) the Gold Card can directly access the ROM area originally located at $C000 to $FFFF? In normal operation, this address range seems to be shadowed in RAM, and therefore not usable to access real hardware (for some Gold Card PLD revisions). I'm aware...

Re: Fun things to do with an MC68EC020....

I was searching this thread for a specific info on the Gold Card ROM shadowing (which I didn't find). But here's a little remark on high speed interrupts. Fortunately, some of this work was done before, on the Q40/60. It implemented a fast poll interrupt (20kHz IIRC!) and it showed that the CPU coul...

UQLX with BDI / QL-SD support

I should have eliminated the last remaining bugs today, so UQLX is now the second QL emulator, after Qemulator, which can handle QL-SD filesystem images. I have no idea when Richard will release it. If someone already needs the feature, please feel free to contact me by personal email. The trick is ...

How are you doing it now? Cloning the QL's ZX8301 + DRAM? Or something derived from Aurora?

The Q40/Q60 SMSQ/E binary can't work. Qemulator emulates only video/sound, but not the whole machine.

Re: QL-SD card project

Thanks. Should have known you made a neat solution. :D Unfortunately I own no Aurora system - would be interesting to see if my SGC becomes stable with QL-SD then.

Re: Sinclair QL Floppy Disk Interfaces

Normally, SRAM helps simplify designs if you do have a huge budget. ;) It is far more expensive - just the small size needed for traditional QL purposes makes the price irrelevant.

Re: QL-SD card project

Or not break the form factor by adding components, but go back to a classic 5V PLD. Or move things out to the external ROM port, as signal quality seems somewhat better there. The more basic question is, wether to continue tinkering or not. I tend to say, the device should become available as it is....

Re: Sinclair QL Floppy Disk Interfaces

I have that too, but isn't it a pain? Characters are hardly legible in 512x256, and single pixels (e.g. at the border) can not be distinguished. Do you use it in 256x256 only?

Re: Sinclair QL Floppy Disk Interfaces

I just wonder all the time, why nobody complains about the lack of flatscreen monitor support for the QL. Storage is obviously important, but I have no idea how to achieve a decent 512x256 QL display nowadays. Do you all press F2 and use TV mode? Or do you all still own working CRT monitors?
