Re: QL upgrade versus Q68

VESA compatibility was really my first worry. There is really no shortage of monitors with VGA input (yet :) ) but monitors as such are getting dumber by the model. I could not agree more. Still I hope that 1024x768 @ 60 Hz with perfectly VESA compliant front & back porch timings for the syncs ...

Re: Fun things to do with an MC68EC020....

With more memory comes more slave blocks for mass storage devices. This can slow things down. Strategies for dealing? Not needed - in fact, it will be faster if the slave block system is suitably used by the driver. Although there is more RAM, it will likely test faster because access is so much fa...

Re: QL upgrade versus Q68

Yes, it is certainly a good idea to have the digital video signals avaiable. I missed this a lot on the Q60, when CRT Multisync became rare. When I designed the Q68 prototype, I used a 2.54 mm grid for the DAC resistors, giving the option of using the pins for a connector. Unfortunately, when I move...

What is it now? Wire-wrap or also PCB?

Re: Fun things to do with an MC68EC020....

I am using the latest 1.98 Minerva image - I don't know how modded that is to accommodate the '020. Should be completely working with 68020. Like Sinclair, I'm a firm believer in "do it in software" - if he had stayed closer to his roots with the QL it would be a much simpler machine. Esp...

Re: Fun things to do with an MC68EC020....

What I have right now is a 68EC020 that has 4MB of SRAM being read as 32-bits, that works with a BBQL. If that already worked, it is a lot. Reminds me of my first QL speedup project, long before the SGC came out. It was wire-wrapped, plugged directly into the 68008 socket, so I had the expansion sl...

Re: Announcement - new QL Interface

Would there be enough pins left to add four SD card signals? Maybe an SD card socket on PCB bottom? Thank you, very good idea ! Can fit SD socket connector on PCB bottom ( can be located standard SD or micro SD ). Only one pin of EPM7128 not connected, but several pins is connected but not used by ...

Re: PS2 mini keyboard

Just a thought, and sorry if I'm going a bit on the hardware side. But is it a case of the newer keyboards not supplying full 5 volt signals. maybe only 3, or a bit volts, which SuperHermes cant handle. And all you need is a buffer IC to bring the signals back up to 5 volts. Just a little box that ...
