Re: Beyond Super Gold Card

With the hope that Peter perhaps can see some new perspectives for his projects, let me tell you a little about my own particular case, which is maybe too unique but still may reflect the individual interests and expectations of many other recent QL enthusiasts. Thanks, it surely contributes to get...

Re: Q68 Ethernet

I don't actually know exactly what QLwIP is or does. QLwIP is a package containing: A) A full, native multitasking TCP/IP stack B) Hardware drivers for ethernet on Q40/Q60/Q68 and the SLIP protocol over SER C) A suite of internet programs, including webserver, fileserver, text-webbrowser, graphical...

Re: Q68 Ethernet

As I understand it, Apart from finding someone to write the network stuff for Q68, your big problem is that TCP would be too much overhead for the Q68's processor to handle. When it comes to full TCP/IP, I'm not really looking for someone else to do the job. QLwIP seems the most realistic (and prob...

Which two do you mean, Qemulator and SMSQmulator?

Re: My intro Guide to the QL

Indeed the Q68 requires a five step approach :P 1. Surf the web until you notice the Q68 exists at all 2. Search for the Q68 until you see it mentioned in the QL forum 3. Search the QL forum until you find the "Q68 Order Process" topic 4. Become a forum member 5. Write a personal message t...

Re: RGB to VGA

For me it also works, but the picture quality is poor. It seems to vary somewhat, depending on the particular QL mainboard used.

Re: Q68 Ethernet

Unfortunately, the TCP requirement takes away almost every charme of the "IP Network driver" for native hardware. The TCP requirement means going from low level (ethernet packets) up to the highest protocol level (TCP) with all it's CPU and memory management overhead and then back down to ...

Re: Replacements for Zx8301 / Zx 8302 / IPC

At least replacements for QL membrane or rubber mat could be reproduced. That has been done before, and if the retro-boom continues, the investments might be manageable. What worries me much more is the ZX8301. I'm not even sure that a PCB-based replacement for this chip would be accepted widely eno...

Re: Replacements for Zx8301 / Zx 8302 / IPC

It seems the 2 biggest wants would be: Replacement / improvement for the ZX8301 Replacement / improvement for the IPC that offers USB or PS/2 Keyboard support, but maintains the internal keyboard functionality. I doubt that modern external keyboards for the original QL mainboard are a big want. The...

Derek_Stewart wrote:Would the XT-CF-Lite work in a Q60?

Yes with a small change in the SMSQ/E IDE driver. But that would be pointless since it is only an 8 bit interface, while the Q60 ISA bus has 16 bit.
If you want to use card media in the Q60, an IDE to SD card converter is the much better solution.
