Re: Designing 3-D cases: vDrive & Q68

I also had a crazy idea of purchasing an empty QL case and seeing how to fit the Q68 within it. I think there should be enough room and using extenders for all the Q68 ports (even for the SD cards) you could get most QL ports filled. Then print some covers to make the backside panel of the QL confo...

Re: Beyond Super Gold Card

The entirety of my comment comes from one simple fact: the available 68k cores for use in FPGAs that are cycle-accurate and complete enough to run QL operating systems are limited to 68000 implementations, with no instruction or data cache and no 32-bit external accesses. Is there any point in cycl...

Re: Beyond Super Gold Card

Is there a possibility to use a physical CPU (eg: 68EC030 or 040?) with the non-68000 parts of the Q68 FPGA core? Technically, yes. Using a 68EC060 instead of the internal core was always an option I held open, in case debugging the FPGA CPU failed. With the pin shortage of a TQPF 144 package, that...

Re: Q68 Ethernet

So do you mean by that you do something like OPEN#3,ser3 which instead of using the RS232 port, it uses the Ethernet port instead. Then PRINT#3 and INPUT#3 to exchange data. SLIP is an encapsulation of TCP/IP designed to work over serial ports and router connections, it was a common standard before...

Re: Beyond Super Gold Card

With the hope that Peter perhaps can see some new perspectives for his projects, let me tell you a little about my own particular case, which is maybe too unique but still may reflect the individual interests and expectations of many other recent QL enthusiasts. Thanks, it surely contributes to get...

Re: Q68 Ethernet

I don't actually know exactly what QLwIP is or does. QLwIP is a package containing: A) A full, native multitasking TCP/IP stack B) Hardware drivers for ethernet on Q40/Q60/Q68 and the SLIP protocol over SER C) A suite of internet programs, including webserver, fileserver, text-webbrowser, graphical...

Re: Q68 Ethernet

As I understand it, Apart from finding someone to write the network stuff for Q68, your big problem is that TCP would be too much overhead for the Q68's processor to handle. When it comes to full TCP/IP, I'm not really looking for someone else to do the job. QLwIP seems the most realistic (and prob...

Which two do you mean, Qemulator and SMSQmulator?

Re: My intro Guide to the QL

Indeed the Q68 requires a five step approach :P 1. Surf the web until you notice the Q68 exists at all 2. Search for the Q68 until you see it mentioned in the QL forum 3. Search the QL forum until you find the "Q68 Order Process" topic 4. Become a forum member 5. Write a personal message t...

Re: RGB to VGA

For me it also works, but the picture quality is poor. It seems to vary somewhat, depending on the particular QL mainboard used.
