Re: Seen on eBay

I used to have a 40Mb Miracle Hard Drive similiar to this one on Ebay. The hard drive plugs into the QL Rom Socket and provides an extension Rom socket on top of the Hard Drive case. There is an rom in the hard drive unit that boots the system up from the internal hard drive unit. Well actually it i...

Re: QL Interface ROMs for Preservation

I have an Eprom Programmer that will read any Eprom.

I will have a look at producing a list of Interface ROM Firmware, with a view to storing them on a publically availble web site.

Re: Homebrew QL kits for DIY QL builders !

There is another problem, in that the QL ROM code, probably Minerva, would have to be translated from 68K assembler or a loader written to emulate a MC68000 structure, so that the operating system could be loaded in. Not an easy task.

I have an eprom Programmer that will read and update new Controller Firmware. Just need the new code and and postage.

I have a PCML Disk Interface, with 256Kb onboard ram. I guess there is no ROM updates for this.

Re: Quanta committee election.

Hi Rich, Quanta did not fund the Q40 or the Q60 development. The Q40 and Q60 were already developed prior to the D&D Systems lauch of a cased Q60 solution. The Q40 had major problems, mainly by the bad construction methods of Qbranch, but that is in the past. What the funding was given to buy pa...

QLROM.jpg Here is a photograph of the underside of a standard QL ROM ard, with some wiring mods. This allows a eprom to be programmed with the QL ROM and other Toolkits that would fil the QL ROM space. Note that the internal QL Roms must be removed otherwise there will be a clash in Rom chips. Re: QXL host computer

The minimum spec. for the QXL is a 80386 MSDOS PC, but I have always found the whole system runs better on a 80486 machine, running MSDOS 6.22.

Hi, Quanta is the only remaining QL Support magazine, which can be delivered in paper or in PDF format sent by email. The Software Library is a very good resource, which is worth having. The Magazine, is like this forum, where all QL Users can read and contribute to. It is worth subcribing, as for t...

Re: Retrofit mICE from Eidersoft / PS2 mouse Adapter

Hi, I notice in the PDF file describing the project, it is said, that Atari Mouse can not be used. I have just found my old ICE Rom Dongle Unit, which I used many years ago on a Supergold Card QL, but the ICE Mouse got damaged and did not work. I rewired the mouse interface to accept an Atari Mouse,...
