Re: ST Basic - inspired by QDOS?

As far as I'm concerned, Sinclair manuals, from the zx81 at least, were extremely good. Lots of information, including the system variables etc. Brilliant.

Cheers,
Norm.

Re: Assembly Language eComic - Issue 5, yes 5, now available

BUG FIX! Morning All, while investigating bit fields - for a different project altogether - I found a bug in Issue 5 of the eComic. On Page 28, section 4.2.1 I mention that a two bit wide bit field, in bits 5 and 6 of a register would be specified as {26:2}. That was correct if I was looking at a tw...

sQLux Foibles

This topic is a continuation from one about uqlx, but this is specific to sQLux. I've cloned the SinclairQL/sQLux repository (https://github.com/SinclairQL/sQLux.git) onto my pi Zero 32 bit Arm, and onto my Linux Mint AMD-64 bit laptop. Both required libsdl2-dev to be installed: sudo apt install lib...

Thanks Tim. I might have a look see later. If I get some "playtime". ;)

Re: How to uQLx on RPi

Hi Rutor, I compiled the latest sources from the SinclairQL Github repo, as per the instructions (in the 2017 uqlx.pdf). I don't (currently) know of a 2018a version to be honest. I do all my QLing in QPC2 on Linux, uqlx was a pleasant distraction on the Raspberry Pi zero. It's actually reasonably fa...

Re: How to uQLx on RPi

So, I thought I would compile the uQLx-2017 source code on my Pi Zero, after all, what could possibly go wrong? Plus, I have the manual (uqlx.pdf) and there are easy to follow instructions.... ;) mkdir SourceCode cd SourceCode git clone https://github.com/SinclairQL/uqlx-fork.git ... cd uqlx-fork gi...

Re: How to uQLx on RPi

I recognise the paths in your description. That's an older version created, I think, by Tobias. It's dated 2012 and I have used it on a Pi 1b with 256 RAMs. Use the one I've Mentioned above. It's from 2017. http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/emu/uqlx2017.zip Have fun. PS. The Pi is slow. It takes too long to e...

Re: How to uQLx on RPi

I'd forgotten how slow a Pi Zero is! I did a quick: wget www.dilwyn.me.uk/emu/uqlx2017.zip unzip uqlx2017.zip cd uqlx cp .uqlxrc ../ vi ../uqlxrc On line 3, ROMDIR, change "<user>" to "pi". (No quotes) Pi is the user I'm logged in as. Save and exit. ./qm_armv6 It works. The qm_ar...

Re: How to uQLx on RPi

The Pi Zero is Arm 11, apparently. Maybe the Arm 7, 8 or 9 versions don't work? When I get time, I'll see what I can find out. I have Pi 1 (256RAMs), Pi 2, 3 and 4 plus a few zeros.

Cheers,
Norm.

Re: How to uQLx on RPi

The file is indeed .uqlxrc, it must start with a dot, and one is supplied in the zip file. On the Pi, do ls -a to see hidden files, those which start with a dot. That's "ell ess minus a" in case fonts cause problems. You can "cat .uqlxrc" or, worse, "nano .uqlxrc" if ne...
