Re: miracle systems ExpanderRAM

Marvellous, I knew I needed to PEEK somewhere, but thanks for confirming I have 640k of throbbing QL power at my fingertips! It just amazes me how much fun I can have with a 30 year old computer which has 51200 times less memory than the iMac I am writing this post on! Now, that is progress.... Abs...

Re: miracle systems ExpanderRAM

Is there a quick SuperBasic command I can use to check the memory size? I recall there being something in ZX BASIC for the Spectrum, but I have never has need to use it. print peek_l(163872) If you want to be a little bit more accurate than this, bearing in mind that RAM does not really start until...

Re: miracle systems ExpanderRAM

If you are just using the expandaram, no need to use the black cover, but keep it for when you add a floppy disk interface. You'll notice that the Expandaram has a through connector, to let you plug in a disk interface (the expandaram plugs into the QL, then the disk interface plugs into the expanda...

Re: LCD Monitor

Most TVs and many monitors fail to see a few characters at the edge fo the screen due to overscan. Mr Navigator got Jon Sim from JS Technology to do a mod on their Simple Video Scalar unit which compensates for overscan, allowing a QL to be connected to VGA monitors. Dr. Sim wrote an article about i...

Re: Quanta Website - What is Missing

Some improvement - the library guide is now freely available and members can have access to the Quanta Library CD through: https://quanta.org.uk/software-library/ This is actually hot off the presses and not officially announced yet, although you may well find that it works. You may need a members ...

Re: Getting the Most From Quanta & Access Library

I have real trouble getting that library guide to run on qemulator. It either hangs or cannot find dbs file. I've tried with minerva rom too, I got it working ages ago but can't remember what I did now. Will look into that. The Library Guide itself is a fairly old program written by Norman Dunbar a...

Re: Getting the Most From Quanta & Access Library

You know what would be good? If they just published the software for everyone and said, "If you find anything of use in here that you might have paid for, join Quanta with the money instead!" Simple matter of copyright - large number of authors of library program never gave permission for...

Re: Getting the Most From Quanta & Access Library

:ugeek: Now I just have to find the time to have a proper look through everything, on an emulator... Hopefully you'll have done that by the weekend  Seriously though, if you find something to your liking in the library, I'm sure Mr Navigator would be happy if you could write a short someth...

Re: Hello from ANOTHER brazilian :o)

I have not used much ICE, because - how funny - I have nothing to do with that. There is a big problem on QL scene, that you can use nothing if you don't have a floppy. Me and Lisias Toledo are trying to understand the QL internals and the QubIDE CF formatting so we can create something on PC to re...
