Re: Preventative Medecine

Just to expand on the LED connector. The individual wires from the LEDs go in this connector. The top of the connector then pushes in to grip and make contact. It is NOT a plug and socket arrangement. When disconnecting make a note of which wire goes where, as you will need this information when rec...

Hello Gert, and well done for your research and good work so far http://stardot.org.uk/forums/images/smilies/eusa_clap.gif Have you seen the HxC floppy drive emulator ? The Atari ST, Amstrad CPC & Amiga can use Host control tool software to select on screen the wanted file. If you use mdv8_ to a...

Re: Hello!

Welcome Simon! Ask all the dumb questions you like (I wont be able to answer most of them, but we can all learn from each other and the experts here are happy to help :P ). It is interesting how different the various retro communities are. Even though the QL is nearly as old as the Spectrum (1982 v...

Re: Hi from another QL newbie

Err, sorry about the rather late reply  Yes, it has a SchÖn keyboard. Keyboard s.JPG The keyboard has a sticker on the PCB that says "Keyboard Products Ltd. Made in England. Part No. AS0720-1. Serial No. 700965." I now also have a standard QL as well :D The one with a SchÖn keyboard ...

Re: Keyboard Hacking/Automation

Looking at the issue 5 schematic, for the keyboard matrix you need 8 output lines and 8 input lines (yes there are more on a real keyboard, but these are duplicates). As long as the existing QL keyboard and joysticks are disconnected, from a hardware point of view, it should be straightforward ;) Ma...

Re: Keyboard Hacking/Automation

This is one of those things that is easier said than done :? If you only want to connect to the existing keyboard matrix lines, you need to detect (read) the scan lines (output lines from QL to keyboard), use this info to decide what, if any keyboard input (input lines from keyboard to QL) need to c...
