Boxing Game

Apparently there was a request on the Online Chat last week for someone to write a boxing game for QL. Although I didn't write it, here is a conversion of a Boxing listing from Creative Computing to QL Superbasic. I think it appeared in the book Basic Computer Games by David Ahl. No frills - it runs...

TCP IP

I've been reading an article about using TCP IP from Basic http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/docs/uqlx_tcp/tcp.pdf.

To save me time working out by trial and error, anyone know if these new OPEN etc commands can be compiled with Qliberator or Turbo?

Re: Sorting And Searching

Hi Dden, How long a list of words do you wish to sort? My 'ROOT' SuperBasic stringsort program can handle lists of 32766 words, which it sorts in 13 seconds under QPC2 at 1.8Ghz. Compiled it is much faster. It could be compiled with its IMPLICIT% pointer array to run faster still. I am currently op...

Re: Sorting And Searching

Hi, I usually fancy coding something simple myself. Depending on the size of an array, if the number of elements is fixed or variable, also if you keep the array sorted. Fast algorithms may work with `halving' the search range, while you always get the middle index first, and then you look for the ...

Sorting And Searching

I am looking for basic extensions for sorting and searching string arrays.

And (just to push my luck) wildcard string searches using * and ? or equivalent.

Re: Hello from South Coast

Thank you Mr_Navigator.
I was never really away from "The Fold" as such. Just preferred "hard copy" to electronic media. Finally taken the plunge and glad I did.
I'm not a member of Quanta.

q-liberator

Does anyone know if q-liberator compiler is free nowadays? I've not seen it on the QL websites, so probably not.

Hello from South Coast

Finally taken the plunge and registered on here instead of lurking and reading ! I travel a lot -- very dependent on whatever type of connection I can get, so might not be on here too often. I have a QL and Gold Card, and now use QPC2 on a laptop (I used to use Qlay and Ql2k). I mainly use superbasi...
