Re: win_extender_bas

No, the limit would be per directory. You can have many more that 65k files on the same drive. But by the time you get to a few thousand files and directories in the same directory (or in the root directory) things slow down so badly that, at least for this generation of CPUs, the limit is the shee...

Re: win_extender_bas

I dont know about the "reserved word" at $3A. Anyone? I believe the long word at $38 was originally intended to store the date of last access (Andrew Pennell's QDOS Companion mentions it as 'reference date'). However it was never used as such. V2 drivers store the version number in one wo...

Re: win_extender_bas

Does COPY_O preserve the file version? When Arvid Borretzen once has written his harddisk copy program, I suggested to take SG's GETHEAD an SETHEAD extensions to patch the file header after copying to preserve all extra Information. That was a good workaround. I am not sure about FUPDT increasing t...

Re: RESTARTING in 68K Assembler for QDOS

Peter, AFAIK the INPUT command works by using the S*BASIC buffer (at 0(a6) through 8(a6)) to read a chunk of data using IO.FLINE (or maybe IO.EDLIN if INPUTing from a console channel), and if this call returns a 'buffer full' error it allocates more buffer memory using the internal S*BASIC memory ma...

Re: SBASIC maximum string length

Because of my assembler project (I'm not sure, if I will succeed, it's more complicated, than I first thought) I have made some tests on QPC2 about maximum string length in SBASIC. First of all: It seems not possible to have a SBASIC string with the maximum SMS/Q/QDOS string length of 32767 charact...

Re: TrumpCard modification

256K x 4 bit is 1 megabit so its talking about the TC2 Yes, but the RAM chips are really 4 bit ones. There's a circuit diagram in the same directory (http://gigant.chem.elte.hu/ZXSpectrum/QL_Trump_Card/) where the picture resides and that clearly shows each chip has 4 data lines. That still makes 1...

Re: TrumpCard modification

A quick look at google and it appears Trumpcard 2 says Trump Card 2 in giant letters in the space saved by only having 6 ram chips :-) You probably meant this picture: http://gigant.chem.elte.hu/ZXSpectrum/QL_Trump_Card/Trump_Card_768K_part_locations.jpg The 6 RAM chips are actually M541256 ones wi...

Re: RESTARTING in 68K Assembler for QDOS

Next problem ;-) I try to find the "Name Table" of SuperBASIC (for then to find the address of the INPUT command), for testing I write it just in SuperBASIC, here is my code, but it returns 0, what's my fault: 100 REMark Find Address of SuperBASICs INPUT Routine 200 : 300 SVS=VER$(-2):REM...

Re: RESTARTING in 68K Assembler for QDOS

Here is the source code (unfortunately not finished, indeed not even one line of the real code is implemented): * SuperBASIC/SBASIC function string$ = GETLINE$(channel_number):REMark # optional * * Copyright (c) 2016 Dec 25, Peter Sulzer, Fuerth (Germany) - ALL RIGHTS RESERVED * Definitions: BP.INI...
