If it had been Sinclair-black instead of PC-white, it would have reached the perfection :-D

There were black versions.

Re: New Commodore keyboard

They are obviously bespoke cases as neither original machine had cut-outs which would suit a PC layout.

Re: Issue 6 VM12 & resistors confusion

That's why I invested in a Hakko FR-301. It's expensive but not as expensive as ruining old machines in the long term. (It's also compact and fits in a carry case so it's easy to put up in the loft after use.)

Re: ZXSimulator

I finally set up my TS1000. I had forgotten how bad the RF modulation on the old TS1000/ZX81's were. I had to do some adjustments to make it a clear as possible. The QL RF modulator is so much better. I may have to do the composite mod on the TS1000. The EightyOne emulator lets you simulate the old...

Re: The PC-FOUR, Psion's IBM Versions

Dilwyn Jones has it on his site as a zip file you can download. Note it won't work on a 64 bit machine so you'll need to run it in a Virtual Windows XP one under Windows 7 and beyond. http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/other/pcfour.zip Surely you can run it in DOSBOX on any (modern) machine?

Re: Custom QL Retrobrighting

Retrobrighting can be blotchy even if you massage the Sun anti-tan lotion, it depends upon the plastic. My 520STM case just showed up the plastic flow lines as slightly more brown and it didn't matter how long it was processed for. I had to stop when the surface of the plastic started to pit. In the...

Re: Emulator Networking

You can have multicast and broadcast packets in user mode. No need to go into promiscuous mode. If in doubt choose a UDP port and standardise but use a broadcast address.

Re: microdrive cartridge repair .......

I've not seen the "long" ones, only the first type. I didn't have problems re-felting them, other than the general fiddliness.

Re: Emulator Networking

Well, unless all of those emulators implement something in the same way then they won't be able talk to each other. Of course, what could be done as the QL-NET is already a CDMA network protocol is to just encapsulate QL-NET packets within an Ethernet broadcast packet and let the emulators listen to...

Re: SMSQ/E 3.36

I've just been looking at the sources and trying to work out how the display stuff works just it just seems gobbledygook to me. I had been wondering if I could modify the Atari driver to work with the Atari TT's medium resolution (640x480, 16 colours) but I wouldn't know where to start. 16 colour m...
