Re: Reading old 5"1/4 flopies

Now @Martin_Head, the disks are 360k media and half of them have the cut on the other side even if with the 1.2M drive I use does not seams to matter. From what information I could gather they are formatted at 720k qdos with an obscure QL interface connected to a double BBC 5.25" drive that se...

Re: Reading old 5"1/4 flopies

Are the 5.25" disks you are trying to read formatted to 360K or 720K in QDOS? If they are 720K, then they are 80 track disks. Most 5.25" DD disk drives in PC's were 40 track drives and will not be able to read 80 track disks. There were 80 track 5.25" drive made (I've got one lurking ...

Re: Problem Creating file on DOS device

I think I've found the problem. Line 236 of the assembly listing has a 'move.l' which should have been a 'lea' . Instead of setting the pointer to a position in the buffer for IO_SSTRG, It was setting the pointer to minus 1. I don't know why the FLP, WIN, and RAM device drivers didn't care, but the ...

Re: Problem Creating file on DOS device

I need to do some more investigation. But late yesterday I had a quick look. I separated the command from the rest of the application it is in, in case something else was getting in the way. But I still seem to have the same problem. I can access the DOS device from BASIC with a OPEN_NEW -- PRINT so...

Problem Creating file on DOS device

I've just run into a problem creating a file on a DOS device in QPC2. I thought I would ask here before I spend a lot of time investigating it, in case it is a known problem. I have written a machine code SuperBASIC procedure which creates a file. It works fine if I create the file on FLP. But if I ...

Re: Microdrive Emulator

I've done an update to my MDI file conversion program. It now converts my MDI (Microdrive Image) files between QLay & Q-emulator Dump mdv image files. It can also create blank formatted image files for all three image types. It runs at a reasonable speed in QPC2 & Q-emulator running at full ...

Re: QL Commercial Software Preservation

At the risk of perhaps going over old territory. What about the Preservation of the old PD & Shareware libraries. I know a lot of it is available on Dilwyn Jones Web site, but I was thinking of the actual library disks, rather than the programs on them. They could be stored as zipped up disk ima...

Re: Microdrive Emulator

QLay doesn't appear to "like" either of those image files, and I had decided to make one "mdv" with some of my own programs, using a "copied and Q-emulator formatted" (Quill) mdv file, but QLay didn't work with it, either. :( You know that q-emulator supports two diffe...

Re: Microdrive Emulator

Hi Martin, I tested an image created with your readmdv prog. The Q-emu report an invalid image. Can you send me your sample for cross check ? QLObi I tested with the Games Cartridge file I posted on this thread. I also sent the same file to Daniele Terdina, and he said it worked OK. The only thing ...
