Re: microdrive cartridge repair .......

can we repair blocked cartridges , is there any experience ?? f Without a lot of microsurgery (that is, if you're not a trained brain surgeon), probably not. Once you have to open the cartridge, you're presumably done with it. I very much doubt there is a way to wind the tape in our out manually. F...

Re: How to run Prospero Fortran on Qemulator version 3.3

Dear Tobias, thank yoy for your advice. You give details about running Prospero Pascal, I want to use Prostero Fortran on Qemulator version 3.3 (from 2020). Sorry, I missed that. I have, some time ago, tried to get Prospero Fortran going on a number of QDOSSMSQ platforms. No good results, except on...

Re: How to run Prospero Fortran on Qemulator version 3.3

Paul, the secret lies in the file "pas_config". This looks like so on my QPC2 system: /GL dev8_ dev8_ dev8_ ram8_ Pas_config must be in the same location as pass1 ("pas") of the compiler. From top to bottom, this file holds ⋅ default compile time options (e.g. /GL) &sdo...

Well, definitely. The (S)GC floppy controller chip is the same that used to be in the IBM AT.

Tofro, > actually, all windows opened by Prospero Pascal using WOpen are CON_soles. Page II-74 of the Pascal manual says: "associates the Pascal file variable w with the QL console driver device SCR_......... (which is in fact the default SCR_ device)." I read that to mean that when openi...

Re: What makes the OS for QL any better, different, unique ?

There was a rumour of it on the QL - but I don't know if that project ever made it to the public? It was actually Cumana (the disk set retailer) who announced in 1985 The future operation THE OS-9 operating system, capable of turning the QL into the equivalent of a high speed mini computer, is on t...

Re: John Conway: Game Over

Tofro, Nice job on the Pascal, esp. in just an hour. I'm very rusty with my Pascal. I like how you did the key input since the screen is SCR and not CON. Tim Hi Tim, actually, all windows opened by Prospero Pascal using WOpen are CON_soles. What PP is missing in its library, is a no-echo, non-block...

Re: John Conway: Game Over

Prospero Pascal, just curious how it compares to C1 Pascal, the one I have. C1 can run on plain QL, but have not tried yet, just read the manual. PP is probably the most professional Pascal compiler for the QL (runs on both QL and SMSQ/E). While C1 compiles into P-Code, PP creates full-blown machin...

Re: QLiberator v3.38

Proposal: ⋅ Check if PE is there (an iop_pinf call will do - If it comes back with no error, it's there. If not, it will simply return an error. ⋅ If yes, use an iop_flim PE call to determine the screen size. PE knows best how big the screen is (and, it's much faster) ⋅ ...
