Re: QEmulator support for old MAC Powerbooks...

If you ever did happen to find the native PPC version of QEm, I'd love to try that too.. Hi Martyn, I managed to update my old copy of the Basilisk II Mac emulator and with that access an image of my old Mac hard disk. I've found a version 2.2.1 of Q-emulator which should be the last that was avail...

Re: QEmulator support for old MAC Powerbooks...

Yes, that's me. Had to dig some 20+ year old emails to find some info: The latest 68K version required 8MB RAM. It should run on PowerPC under emulation, too, but about 8 times slower than the native version (however, I don't think I have a PowerPC version anymore). The old Q-emulator 3 for 68K Macs...

Re: QEmulator support for old MAC Powerbooks...

In addition to what Derek said, if you have an old PPC machine with System 7, in theory you may be able to run the PPC version of Q-emulator. But it's an even older version than the 68K one and no SMSQ/e support either.

Re: Troubleshooting black display?

Just received a new HDMI converter that works with the RGB SCART signal and I'm happy to report that it works, so the QL is good!
There are missing pixels on the right and a few extra at the bottom, but overall not bad, much better than the B/W TV I used in the 80s.

Re: Troubleshooting black display?

Good info about the SCART cable, thanks! I'll buy a different HDMI converter.

Re: Troubleshooting black display?

Unfortunately I don't have an old TV anymore (SCART or otherwise). I've now tried my only other monitor which is my PC's monitor, with similar results: the monitor detects the HDMI being plugged in but it doesn't see a signal on it ("entering power save mode"). SCART cable I'm using: https...

Troubleshooting black display?

I got a QL and I'm trying to connect it to my TV through a "QL Scart" cable and a SCART->HDMI converter, but nothing appears on my TV. The TV does detect a HDMI signal from the converter, but displays nothing (black screen). Apart from the video, the QL seems to work fine: MDV1 turns on af...

It doesn't. Q-emulator only emulates a little bit of the Gold Card hardware, just enough to enable the GC version of SMSQ/e to run.

Re: Gold Card / Super Gold Card ROM patching...

From memory of looking at the GC code long ago, it has a different table of patches for each version of the QDOS ROM. While SMSQ/E replaces QDOS, the GC uses the original (but patched) ROM, so it needs to apply many patches. I didn't look into all of them, but some replaced timing-related code (the ...

Re: Q-emulator add on hardware api

The API is meant to help HW developers simulate their device for testing the drivers. It's available on Windows, by writing a DLL and placing it in a directory named 'Extensions' inside the directory where QemuLator.exe is. Here is some starter code for the DLL: http://www.terdina.net/ql/soft/HwExte...
