Re: IP Device driver

Please ignore me if I'm talking bollox, again, but, I did some network programming on Unix and Windows back in the mid 1990s and I seem to remember getting back to front values. Have you neglected to call htons, htonl (host to network short/long) or ntohs/ntohl (network to host short/long) to get th...

Re: Starting programming.....

I agree, go for DBAS. But try out a few ideas before you dive into your main application.

Good luck.

Re: Porting PLATOTERM to the QL as a QDOS app.

For the job name: char _prog_name[] = "program_name"; As a global assignment, outside of all functions, including main(). I don't know about there being a channel open but I suspect it's for stdin, stdout, stderr maybe. I suspect, perhaps that this might remove the default channel: char _con...

The answer has to be "it depends" and it does depend on what the database is intended to hold. Archive is ok, but has some problems if files are not closed correctly and rumours abound of corrupted databases files for other reasons. I've had a few in my time with nothing more sinister than...

When in doubt, Dilwyn's web site is the place to look. :D

Re: Hardware pointers and cursors.

There are countless "PE beginner's guide". One of the more popular is http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/docs/ptr/peig/pe.html . Probably my most popular effort, written way way way back when I still lived in Aberdeen. That was at least 1990, possibly even a little before that. I wrote it because I ...

+1 for Kye, brilliant game which I "lost" many hours playing, and I don't tend to play many games. If I remember correctly, Kye was named after the author's dog which had a tendency to run amok at any time! More here https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kye_(video_game) . Cheers, Norm

Re: SCREEN1 = SYSVAR @ JSROM

Hi Tomas,

The composite colours are sent to the traps to change the paper/ink/strip.

It looks like you are trying to plot pixels directly into the screen RAM. In which case, you would need to work out the required dot pattern and colours, then plot those pixels.

Norm.
