Re: Happy Birthday!

What are the odds, in a room full of QL people, that two will have the same birthday! Happy birthday gents. Cheers, Norm. PS. The odds are, 50-50 with only 23 people. Check this out for why: https://betterexplained.com/articles/understanding-the-birthday-paradox/ and then, lose your mind! :D Yes, h...

Re: "Mini" QL Printer

Is thermal paper for it expensive? Back in the days of the good old Ser8056 thermal printer used by early QLers, the printer was fairly cheap but the paper very expensive. I still have my 8056 and it still gets used for a quick printout on BBQL occasionally. Still works as good as the day it came w...

Re: Knoware.no

pjw posted:- I miss those hefty, fat manuals of yore, yet I wouldn't have them back! They take up too much room, are hard to search, and, of course, can't easily be updated. No, the online solution is better for this kind of thing. I agree, online stuff is easy to disseminate and maintain but If I ...

Re: Wrist Rest Gel

Norman: I tried WD40 on a less obvious part of the desk and it damages the finish on this particular laminate. I can only apologise, sorry. Glad you got rid of it anyway. Cheers, Norm. Oh, no worries Norman. The desk is quite old and I was careful to try on a less obvious bit anyway. I guess becaus...

Re: Wrist Rest Gel

Thanks everyone. I tried several of the suggestions with pretty good results. Norman: I tried WD40 on a less obvious part of the desk and it damages the finish on this particular laminate. As does the cleaning alcohol, as my son found out when he tried it some time ago on a printer ink cartridge spi...

Wrist Rest Gel

Some gel from a keyboard wrist rest has leaked out of a wrist rest onto the laminate finish of my computer desk. I've wiped up what I can with a damp cloth then used a moist wipe to clear up as much as possible. However, the desk surface is still a bit sticky - it feals a bit like some of the silico...

Re: Knoware.no

An author may sometimes write instructions with the intended application in mind, or based on what the original extension was used for.

So, there may be no right or wrong if someone else has another use in mind for something.

Re: QL Mouse cable connections

Not all serial mice work either, even if the wiring is right. You may have to try a few. With some serial mice you have to hold down a button to enter the two button or three button mode. Some versions of the sermouse software have to be configured appropriately. Some have reported not being able t...

Re: Knoware.no

<> I use something similar, a little SBASIC job running which looks at SCRAP_CNT to see if QPC_SYNCSCRAP has modified the scrap, then if it has, HOT_STUFF the scrap into the stuffer buffer, so that I can ALT-SPACE it into a program which does not know how to use the scrap. Makes it dead easy to cop...
