Re: Let us chat about Desktop Publishing on the QL

Morning Rich, I have been talking with Fred Toussi about Text87 and ... Ok, how the hell did you manage that? Fred is (or was) working with the Firebird Foundation (firebirdsql.org)some time ago when I last contacted him about Text87, all he replied to me was "yes, I am Fred Toussi of Text87 f...

Re: Let us chat about Desktop Publishing on the QL

OK my views on Mice. I am a programmer by nature and a mouse gets in the way to some extent. None of the desktop publishing software for the QL was mouse driven (except for one - Publishing OffICE by Eidersoft which used the iCE mouse). The lack of any real graphical desktop system on the QL probabl...

Re: Let us chat about Desktop Publishing on the QL

Just to add a little more to the discussion.... I have been talking with Fred Toussi about Text87 and releasing the sources for his printer drivers etc later this year... The answer to the lack of a modern printer for the QL will be the Retro-Printer (http://www.retroprinter.com) - you just need to ...

Re: Devpac QL

So far as I know, HiSoft still exist - http://www.hisoft.co.uk/

It is therefore up to them whether to allow the software to be made freeware.

Please feel free to approach them Dave (or anyone else) - I have stopped tracking down the copyright holders as it was a thankless task

Re: QPC2 freeze on Win 10 laptop going to sleep

Also - do you have QPC2 running with a screensaver in it or similar? I wonder if it is that QPC2 cannot read the mouse / keyboard, or does the image actually freeze if it was doing somethingg graphically at the time?

Re: Issue 8 discussions...

I now have numerous copies of Wanderer. Thank you everyone. :) I will use it for... ummm. "testing"... Yeah, that's it. "Testing." ;) Please remember that Wanderer is still copyright Pyramide. I am the only person who could have sent it to Dave, because I am the authorised distr...

Re: Issue 8 discussions...

I know only of one game that used screen 1 (don't remember the name but it was an Elite style game with wire frame 3D graphics that used blue/red glasses for viewing). "Wanderer" maybe? If anyone has a working copy of this, it would be useful for testing purposes. I will send you a copy o...

Re: QL Serial --> USB

Yes, the Retro-Printer is the answer (it was available until a couple of weeks ago when we realised that the factory had made a mistake). The physical connection is not the only problem - modern printers expect the computer to do all of the hard work for them - they do not understand plain text any ...
