Re: uQLx how to on Suse Linux

I felt about the same when I first fired-up a Commodore Amiga after some 15 years. More than 30 years since I saw the QL so it is a blank. :| I did what you said even though I don't know exactly what permissions were being messed with and uQLx came straight up, thanks a lot. Are those steps l...

Re: Keyboard Interface problem

Here is an XT to AT & PS2 adapter if you want to build one. http://www.vcfed.org/forum/showthread.php?26426-AT2XT-keyboard-converter XT keyboards are just too old for me to ever have been involved with them. It might be worth taking a very close look at your interface board for cracked solder jo...

Re: uQLx how to on Suse Linux

Thanks guys. I have Wine installed already so I went to "The Distribution" and clicked qpc2 under emulators and it loaded and run. I didn't recognise a thing. I seem to have no recollection about my QL screen or anything about the operating system at all. I do have an emulation of it now t...

I use Suse Linux but don't really know much about installing software I usually find a package that does it for me. Could someone point me in the direction of instructions or the easiest way to get uQLx on Suse?

Re: QL Haul, list of Contents and questions!

Yes, be my pleasure. I'll have a look tomorrow to see what kind of shape it's in. I've randomly tried 5 or 6 disks and 1 couldn't be read, so I'm afraid I can't promise anything. If disks give errors it is worth changing their temperature like warming them on a radiator to simulate summer temperatu...

Re: Hi From London England

I went through the box and found 28 Microdrives and two books The Sinclair QL Companion by Boris Allen and QL Advanced User Guide by Adrian Dickens. I can't remember buying all that stuff but that is no surprise since I had Borrelia (called Lyme in US) for over half my life until I toasted it with a...

Re: Hi From London England

Thanks guys. I saw most of the interfaces you mention but not the vDrive that seems the most useful. It wasn't easy to find the price or where to get it but I found it here. https://www.sellmyretro.com/offer/details/vdrive-ql-29035 I am in Chiswick at the moment looking after my mum. I pulled the QL...

Hi From London England

I came across this forum while poking around the NET and thought isn't it quaint. It took me back to the 80's using my QL that couldn't actually talk to anything or save files reliably but it was a major step up from the Spectrum and all I could afford. The QL software suit was brilliant and I think...
