Could you elaborate? :? In my world if an rs232 passes bytes it works and a keyboard would pass bytes across it.

Re: Today I Received...

My main interest is in porting the functionaliity to a propeller chip Does that mean a different chip pin compatible? I would design the software correctly for the new chip rather than repeat the mistakes you might as well make new ones and be in the position of having the ability of correcting the...

Re: Replacements for Zx8301 / Zx 8302 / IPC

Replacement / improvement for the IPC that offers USB or PS/2 Keyboard support, but maintains the internal keyboard functionality. Couldn't one of the serial ports be used for a PS/2 external keyboard? It would only require a bit of software to act as a driver passing the keyboard input to the oper...

Re: Hi From London England

I found 100nS Eproms but it seems everything on the QL was designed to slow the processor down by freezing it until data is ready. I suppose it was due to the lack of technology and peripherals not able to keep up with the processor that was ahead of its time.

Re: Hi From London England

The flash tick box is on the read page and I tried both settings but no difference. According to the pinouts here http://mhv.bplaced.de/cbmroms/23256.htm the 23 is the same as the 27 for reading since the 23 has unconnected pins on some not different ones but I don't know about pin readings the prog...

Re: Hi From London England

From the above ROM swapping tests above I had the impression the lower ROM was faulty so today I installed a Universal programmer I bought a few months ago to test the chips. After jumping through hoops on Windows 10 I managed to get it working but I searched the data base for the ROM type and could...

Re: QL-HDD card with ISA-CF as Win1_ Possible?

The ISA bus is a hardware standard so electrically it is OK but software wise your board is expecting to see a disc identified in a particular way that will not be identified by the driver so it will ignore it I would guess.

Re: Replacements for Zx8301 / Zx 8302 / IPC

I take it from this discussion that there are no replacement chips currently being made and was wondering if modern microcontrollers could replace them even the video ULA. I had a cursory look and it seems like a flash PIC chip could replace the 8049 and probably the 8302 in one chip. Perhaps a slig...

Re: Today I Received...

Thanks I didn't grasp what it was never having used one. My first development was testing assembler code by changing eproms and then moving on to chips like the 8051 that had onboard eprom where you changed the whole chip. At that time emulators hadn't caught up with the progress of the microprocess...

Since nobody has asked. It sounds significant but why?
