Re: Hi From London England

Hi Derek Did you put the eprom(s) in an adapter board? No I didn't because I thought pin 22 OE was tied but taking another look at the schematic the resistors and dotted lines don't seem to go to a definite rail. Do I have to pull the pin of the EPROM out and tie it to a rail? Oh! pin is Vpp ...

Re: Hi From London England

I received my 27C256 EPROMs from China and burned JS ROM in to them that was a bit tricky because the image is 64K but the programmer only loads the lower 32K since that is what fits in the selected chip. The programmer is new so I don't know the best way to do things. I selected a 64K chip t...

Re: uQLx how to on Suse Linux

The uQLx seems to do random things when I start it. Ah! I just realised it isn't random it is repetitive alternation. If the system starts with just the red and white screens and the next time the red and white screens are full of text with tool kit mentioned underneath then all the heron stuff star...

Re: QL-VGA

That EspoTek Labrador Board looks good for the money. Just to wind you up because my leg is painful and I want to share I bought an Atten scope that is a badged 6" colour digital scope identical to the Rigol for £200 including delivery from China before GB customs tightened up customs checks. A...

Re: RGB to Scart & Composite

So I used a female SCART connector to convert from the QL to SCART cable to BNC / RCA / DB9 OK thank you, so you must be using a second standard plug to plug SCART. The image using color composite on an old (2008) tube TV with composite RCA is much worse that using the RGB SCART on the same TV. So ...

Re: RGB to Scart & Composite

I also use a second adaptor - a SCART female wired to composite and to a RGB 5 pin DIN. But SCART female connectors are very difficult to find (at least around here) The reason I suggested wiring the QL in to the above adapter was so that one would have the choice of plugging the SCART or composite...

RGB to Scart & Composite

Is one of these adapters useful for hacking the QL RGB signal in to the middle and getting both SCART and composite video out? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-RGB-Scart-to-Composite-RCA-SVHS-S-Video-AV-TV-Audio-Cable-Adapter-Adaptor/323849082186 I was thinking the QL output could be wired inside th...

Serial keyboard?

Can the QL serial line handle a serial keyboard? I have a couple knocking around from the days before the PC XT came out when all keyboards were serial as were the terminals. I think the keyboards sent the serial data and the monitors displayed the received serial characters.

Thanks for the summary I am sure it will help other newbies to this site to understand the state of play. :) I tried reading all the threads but they were very long wish lists and I couldn't see final specifications it was just too complicated for my poor little brain. :?
