Re: QSTAR 2
The switching of players is the variant I saw before. I think I like QStar 1 better. I made it through level 4 and that one took many tries. I also like how, once I make it through a level, if I come back to that level, even if it's only been a few days, it's still difficult to solve as there are so...

Identity of PiHER 8C2K2 chip?
This circuit board isn't for the QL (it's a programmable Spectrum Joystick Interface board by Downsway). I can't identify the PiHER 8C2K2 chip. Most I could track down was a PiHER 8C22K and 8C220K chips and still no clear description (maybe a microswitch?)

Re: Psion Abacus
All my zines and stuff are on my website: http://swensont.epizy.com/ Tim Interesting comparison of Abacus to VisiCalc in issue #8 (you had a typo above with issue 38). The QL software bundle was pretty well developed. It's interesting because the other 16-bit computers at that time came with almost...

Re: Today I Received...
These came from AliExpress. Used them as filler to get my order to $10 for free shipping...they only cost like $1.65 for the pair. HDMI-to-RJ45.jpg Just tried them and they worked with a homemade 50 foot cable to a different room with projector about 35 feet away. Pretty cool and instant, any-length...

Re: QSTAR 1
This looks fun. I saw game-play from another platform and it does look challenging. Will try it out!

Is there a site for SMSQzine? I found a few issues on the internet archive.

Re: Psion Abacus
I have been playing with Abacus and Easel and I must say, even on a 128K machine with microdrives, it works pretty seamlessly. I can only imagine what 512K of memory, Choice, and a RAM disk would do the the experience. I guess I was ignorant of spreadsheets in the early 90s as I might have used Abac...

Does Abacus support the modulus operator? It has an int function and supports exponentiation both using ^ and the exp() function. I've tried all sorts of characters to no avail. I currently am computing a - int(a/n)*n, to compute a mod n, but it would be nicer to simplify it.

Re: Solid State Microdrive Cartridge?
So a small update on this. Just spoke to a colleague (a bit older than me) who, in the day, worked for Coleco helping design their version of the stringy floppy. He's going to look into some things I asked him regarding my plan and we may get together to test some things using my Spectrum and the sp...
