Wasn't the Super QL design a tower? I'll have to grab my "Delete: ..." book to check.

Re: QL <-> MOXA Nport 5150A and Internet! Surf on Telnet connected BBS
I use Retro WiFi (I bought the black version): 2018-12-06T14_01_46.872Z-retro-wifi-rs232-serial-hayes-modem-usb.jpg Here is the website: https://wiki.simulant.uk/index.php?title=Retro_Wifi_SI_(rs232_serial_port_Hayes_compatible_modem) Worked flawlessly on my BBQL (using my homegrown terminal program...

Re: what is the difference between a ql microdrive and the spectrum version ?
The net effect for me is that the single ZX Microdrive I have has trouble reading QL formatted cartridges. It formats and reads fine on my Spectrum/IF1 after I refurbished it a bit. I think on a few occasions I got a directory listing connected to the QL, but could never get it to read anything. Her...

Re: Hooking up modem that draws power from serial port
I haven't been able to find any documentation on the modem. It was sitting in my drawer for 20+ years. It matches the QL look (actually more the ZX81 with its red lettering). I wonder if it's designed to deal with the range of voltages. On wikipedia it says that some "RS232 compatible" dev...

Hooking up modem that draws power from serial port
I'm playing with an old modem and am trying to create a cable for it to use on my QL. It's tiny and doesn't have a power input (Stowaway 2400 Vocal). Modem.png I initially thought it used the power from the phone line (like telephones did) but plugged it into my WIndows laptop and got it to recogniz...

Re: QL serial to PC
My SD card reader was broken for a while last year so I had to rely on microdrives. Had to rebuild some carts through serial link from my PC and it worked pretty well. Basically used the copy command from the serial port to a file (i.e. I didn't need to write a BASIC program but just used QDOS comma...

Re: The Sinclair QL in North America
I was part of NESQLUG (and editor for a few years). We had a few QL shows in Boston in the early 90's, bringing the Miracle Systems crew out. I think one year they flew into Logan and rode their folding bikes to the show. I bought my QL from Sharps in Mechanicsfille, Virginia. I got a bunch of stuff...

Re: In the market
I haven't quite figured out how to install software sourced from Dilwyn (thank you Dilwyn). Is there a resource you can point me to that would instruct? There's a bit of a chicken-and-egg issue there. For all the zip files on the site you need the QL unzip utility, which is an executable -- well, y...

Re: QL Screen View online
Oh, that's so handy. I was just playing around with Photon over the holidays so this tool is nice to have to see what the _scr file looks like.
