Re: MT.DMODE alternative (i.e. how else to change display mode)

Hi, Digital Prevision sold a programme called CPORT, which was supposed to translate Superbasic into C. The CPORT is a Turbo compiled executable, written in Superbasic. Which is kind funny, in that it is a Superbasic programme to convert Superbasic to C. Sadly the CPORT programme is part of the Dig...

Re: MT.DMODE alternative (i.e. how else to change display mode)

As you say, the initial versions were more manual. And I did some automation to make it easier. To work out what each of the code routines did. I compiled a lot of short test routines, then disassembled them. Knowing what the original program was, you can work out what each routine does. That's qui...

Wow indeed. Love seeing those other Sinclair products. When was that made and sold?

Re: MT.DMODE alternative (i.e. how else to change display mode)

I'm in the process of trying to decompile SuperCharge's Parser_task... Oh wow, I didn't realize there was a decompiler for SuperCharge. Did you write it or was that from DP as well? Is it available to play with? Here's the last one I posted here. https://qlforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2373&a...

Re: SuperCharge source code

To get back to the topic of this thread... I've almost got the decompiled Parser_task to a state where it will load without error. But I don't yet know if there are any problems with the decompile. I'm a bit confused here. So once decompiled, it can be recompiled with SuperCharge, so then the decomp...

Re: SuperCharge source code

To my mind it seems you are chasing a figment of your own imagination... It's how I used the QL in the late 80's and early 90's and it worked quite well for me. I used Quill quite a lot for any type of letter/document and had a Brother M1109 printer hooked to it so I could get a hard copy. I also u...

Re: SuperCharge source code

I bought and successfully ran Turbo on my 128 ko JM. There was not much free memory and microdrive use was heavy as a result. The trick was not to use CHARGE, but parser_task and codegen task seperately.... (At the time my work programs were written as short modules which could be compiled seperate...

Re: New discovery? 'Life' by CAT Systems Ltd

I think there is more to it than meets the eye. As far as I can see it makes use of the second screen, meaning Minerva is needed. And it seems to switch mode mid-screen, meaning that the top part is displayed in mode 4 and the actual life part is displayed in mode 8. Quite tricky and will not work ...

Re: SuperCharge source code

I personally chose SuperCharge over Turbo because of its capabilities to run on an unexpanded BBQL -- I know that's a weird criteria but I love exploring the QL's original capabilities not its enhanced ones since I can just run an emulator and get max performance and memory, etc (so where's the fun ...
