Re: Microdrive data line format

Finally in 2017, after several PCB revisions, and once the manuals and install guides had been done, I thought I'd make a couple for enthusiasts :-) As it turned out, I had significantly underestimated the demand and with the continued interest, I'm still making both the ZX and QL vDrives today (ht...

Re: QL PCB

I'm surprised you haven't gotten a response yet on your original post. Usually it's a bad chip that causes that, not a bad motherboard. Unfortunately I don't have enough experience with failures to give any insights. But best bet is to go to sellmyretro and buy a few replacement chips first (like th...

Re: GermanQL and composite signal

I don't know about the German models but the US ones only have monochrome composite out on the RGB DIN socket. Note that both US and German models also use DB-9 serial and joystick connector. Pin 1 on the RGB socket gives a 5 volt signal and no composite color out. Now it's easy enough to fix since ...

I didn't read your comment initially when eagerly opening up the PDF and was like "wow, that's a big cartridge." :-)

Texas on a hill...just made me smile as I thought of King of the Hill. I did see a youtuber called 8-Bit Guy's recent video and he's from Texas and did note that the rain has been crazy for him.

Re: Somewhat rare US QL on eBay...

In checkout I chose standard ground shipping which slashed that $112 expedited nonsense. I will start a thread and share with all on the weird little card. Ouch...I guess shipping from Ohio to the west coast made that a whole lot more expensive. For me in MA expedited was half that. There's got to ...

Re: Somewhat rare US QL on eBay...

I looked closer and it says, "Made in USA" on it. It seems to have two rows of PLCC-24 ICs standing on their edges in a 2x4 arrangement. Weird. Might be something unique. Also, unidentified ROM port cart. Probably TK2... Please let us know what it is once you've had a chance to look at it.

Re: Somewhat rare US QL on eBay...

Got it for $323.55 shipped, would have paid MUCH more. That's only £228 though so a bit of a bargain by UK standards. This leaves me free to disassemble and reverse engineer my current dead (beyond repair, corrosion) US QL to turn it into a schematic. Wow shipping exploded. For me expedited shippin...

Good luck...it is up to $100 now, hopefully it won't get too outrageous. I'm curious what that little extension board is...256K memory?

Re: Somewhat rare US QL on eBay...

Shipping from the seller seems to be about $30 within the US and it looks like $100 to the UK and $130 to Germany...I wonder if standard shipping from US to UK/Germany via postal service would be significantly lower than $30 less...let me know if any collectors out there want to see if the differenc...
