Re: Sinclair QL Storage Solutions

Hi, Welcome to the forum! There are presently two SD options. QL-SD is an internal installation and replaces one of the internal microdrives or also comes in a micro-SD model that sticks out of the back of the QL near the video port. It gets installed internally having a socket extension that (I bel...

Re: PiStorm

Actually the only problem is getting the timing of the MDV and NET routines right, the rest is pretty trivial. A 68000 based solution works for the most parts even without a single patch. But believe it or not, I do agree with you that this whole thing still feels strange. In the end it would proba...

Re: PiStorm

Which can cause data loss, and seems criticised in the Amiga scene. This issue came up on the Discord server and Claude himself said there was no issue with power down the Amiga and no data loss had been reported in tests or by any users. The only recommendation is that if you have a hard drive to ...

Re: PiStorm

Hopefully there could be a QL option in the future. I would think twice before putting any work into that. ⋅ Do you really want to boot a full Linux first, before the QL comes to life? Taste varies, but for me the answer is definitely no. ⋅ Do you want to run a shutdown before p...

Re: PiStorm

Don't have the time to watch the full video, but two things seem odd at first glance: 1. They mention "prices as low as about 13 €" while the PLD alone (no PCB, no assembly, no small stuff) costs 21 € and has delivery time January 2022. China fakes? 2. Video through the Amiga output seeme...

PiStorm

Just saw an interesting video (by Dan Woods) on PiStorm. It's a board that interfaces with a Pi 3 and sockets in place of the MC68K on the Amiga 500 and basically replaces the CPU via emulation on the Pi. Pretty interesting concept and the board costs like $15 plus add the cost of a Pi 3. Gives the ...

Oh, those aren't air vents...I actually have my feet somewhere but have never used them. Don't need the QL to be even higher off the table :-)

Re: QL-VGA v2

With a US QL, if you select TV, it should run at 60Hz and Monitor 50Hz with the selection screen running at 60Hz. So US QLs ususally end up running at 60Hz. I have ordered a Minsrva en route. Is that true? When putting a US (JSU ROM version) into Monitor mode, most TV's can't see the picture and so...

I'm not 100% sure but I believe it was always a 16K spectrum. It came with sockets and there is no jump wire next to the ULA. Other than that jumper, is there anyway to tell?
