Re: Microdrive felt pads

I didn't get anything. Some other emails didn't get through earlier this week with no warning to the sender and nothing in spam. Let me know a string of 5 letters or so from your email address and I'll see if I can search for it.

Re: The little revenge of the microdrive?

There may well be some rose-tinted glasses in play here ;)

Re: Q40/Q60 Roms

Thanks for the hints. But I think with my lowly level of expertise, I may as well source some spare UV EPROMS that I know I can program and will just have to put up with the wait time when erasing!

Re: The little revenge of the microdrive?

That's what I mean by the staccato spins.

Re: QLUB Adapter - Initial Release...

That thread on Sinclair ZX world was very helpful Derek (I posted there recently about how I had to 'trick' my QEPII Eprom programmer into reading an original IF1 ROM), but I think the ROM-el must be the way to go now.

Re: The little revenge of the microdrive?

There's something very satisfying about microdrives when they work. The whirr, those wonderful staccato spins, the different 'rub' as the join of the tape whizzes past the head, the slow comforting dimming of the LED. I especially enjoy seeing the sectors represented on screen when using mdump_task,...

Re: QLUB Adapter - Initial Release...

Hi Chr$ ! I too have experimented with how best to replace the Shadow ROM in-situ, and the only option that seems viable given the extremely tight spacing inside the IF-1 seems to be the 'ROM-EL' (or 'EL-ROM', depending on source) 2364 pin-compatible Flash-ROM as a low-profile daughter-board - avai...

Re: QLUB Adapter - Initial Release...

As a sort of related QLUB thing Martyn - The Spectrum IF1 ROM is a Motorola SCH9288 OP or TI TMS4764NLZA. I know that 2564 EPROM is almost the same, with an extra 4 pins at the top (1,2,27,28). If one wanted to install a different ROM into an IF1, how can that be done? Is it possible to just program...

Re: Q40/Q60 Roms

Just looked these up and see that in fact they are electrically erasable types - so ignore my post above about OTP. It's a 14V erase and 12V program for these chips. The device list for the programmer says it does do 9 vendor variants of the 40pin dip version of 27C4096 - so you may be in luck with...
