Re: Optimal Flatscreen monitors for QL and Q68
Well, to my (admittedly rather imperfect) eyes, the BL912 looks good with the Q68 in all modes - I certainly struggle to perceive any significant blurring at all, in normal use. Perhaps my EM15A backlight is defective - it's certainly somewhat annoying, and to that extent I prefer to use the BL912. ...

Re: Optimal Flatscreen monitors for QL and Q68
Here's a screenshot from my freshly booted Q68 connected to the Benq BL912: IMG_0186.JPG this looks good to me, and the other disp_modes also display well on this monitor. For comparison, here's the Q68 on the EM15A, set to contrast 50 and brightness 40: IMG_0187.JPG not bad, but the backlight shine...

Re: Optimal Flatscreen monitors for QL and Q68
Peter - that's a really helpful summary of the ideal monitor setup for QLs, and I'm very interested to hear of your good experience with the Eyoyo EM15A. I bought an Eyoyo EM15A a little while ago, mainly to use with an Apple ][, as it has composite input. However, I have to say that I've been disap...

Re: Raspberry PI 3B+
There’s also ZEsarUX which is available as a pre-built binary for the raspberry pi https://github.com/chernandezba/zesarux/releases - this package emulates a number of Sinclair computers, including the QL - I’ve mainly used it as a ZX81 emulator on the pi, so I’m not sure how the QL emulator compare...

Re: CST Thor 1 EPROM problem
Hello Witchy! Really glad to see you on this fine forum - and many thanks indeed for your very helpful and informative post- the mystery of the Thor 1 serial/watermark EPROM is solved! Whilst this EPROM rabbit hole hasn't fixed my Thor 1 problem, the investigation has been most rewarding! I've now r...

Re: CST Thor 1 EPROM problem
Russ - great pictures! Nice work on the Thor PCB, and I love the screenshot from the Sinclair monitor - it looks as though your Thor has a few extra ROMs on board! Dilwyn - I’d be delighted to put something together for the Thor section of your site, which is such a fantastic resource and one which ...

Re: CST Thor 1 EPROM problem
Wow! Thanks so much Russ! This is fantastic progress! I'm most grateful for your help with this serial EPROM. When I was back-powering the CST QL mainboard, I did indeed just apply 5v from the Thor board expansion connector to the QL expansion connector - before dismantling the Thor, I'd just happen...

Re: CST Thor 1 EPROM problem
Thank you vanpeebles! I’ve sent an email to Urs König, and also to Adrian Graham via his binary dinosaurs website, as he seems to have a working Thor 1 - http://www.binarydinosaurs.co.uk/Museum/cst/index.php . Lastly, I’ve PMd forum member bagpuss22 whose thread here - https://qlforum.co.uk/viewtopi...

Re: CST Thor 1 EPROM problem
Hi Derek - thanks a lot for trying! Your experience and mine does suggest to me that perhaps there was not that much data on the Thor 1 serial number/watermark EPROM..... In terms of interfacing the Thor ROM board directly to a QL via the ROM connector, I’ll look at the Thor/QL schematics in the Tho...
