Re: PC mouse to QL conversion project

IF I remember correctly, Atari ST mice are compatible with QL + Sermouse.... can anyone confirm? Anyway, I found this interesting project to convert a normal PC mouse (serial, ball-type) in order to be compatible with: - Amiga - Atari ST - old, pre-ADB classic Macintosh computers - and QL? The proc...

Re: Today I Received...

This is not a Sony TV - it is a Sony Video Monitor PVM-1554QM . It has separate inputs for Red, Green, Blue and Sync with BNC connectors - so I use a QL RGB to SCART cable bought from RetroComputer Shack and a SCART to BNC adaptor. The image is rock steady ! Much better than any QL monitor. As I am...

So at some point if I can't find in USA an original Sinclair Vision 14 or a CUB, maybe my next option is a Sony. So what special cabling is needed to make a stock QL work on these Sony type TVs?

Re: Let us chat about Desktop Publishing on the QL

Yeah but we are hardware tinkerers, while TJ seems more software (and mouse) oriented ;) Think of TJ in this way.... :P average joe that buys a new computer and learning as he goes.... plays with both hardware and software... but is no tech... just a dude that tries what he sees documented... some ...

Re: Let us chat about Desktop Publishing on the QL

Will the Gold Card be enough or even the future #8 QL Board Dave is working on allow mic more easily if using this PE? Amply. When 512k was the best available, I was happy as a pig in poo with that ;) Cool. That will be my end goal. Will learn the basics "mouse-less" at first but hope to ...

Re: Let us chat about Desktop Publishing on the QL

Regarding mice on QL hardware, if you want anything other than a retro museum piece, you need decent software to use it, ie PE. That requires about 40k extra, and ideally, with Hotkeys and all that, about 50-60k. PE application software is also comparatively chubby, and real multitasking dramatical...

Re: Let us chat about Desktop Publishing on the QL

Just to add a little more to the discussion.... I have been talking with Fred Toussi about Text87 and releasing the sources for his printer drivers etc later this year... The answer to the lack of a modern printer for the QL will be the Retro-Printer (http://www.retroprinter.com) - you just need to...

Re: Let us chat about Desktop Publishing on the QL

Most of the DTP programmes for the QL are not supplied with the source code. DO you think it is worth trying to write an open source DTP programme? I think, neither was. In our days, I think, everyone wanted to use a pointer driven DTP System. Simply ask Francois Lanciault, why he doesn't has devel...
