Re: SMSQ/2 on Atari

guibrush writes about SMS2 and its cartridge form. There were four versions of SMS2 produced. Two floppy versions and two cartridge versions. The floppy versions were not distributed because the cartridge version provided an "instant on" OS installation which was considered to be superior....

Re: SMSQ/E Beguiners Guide

I am in the same boat as "papanillu". I also bought a Q68 and have been faffing around with it ever since. Sadly I have to say that I find this activity actually enjoyable. I have the advantage of having been an SMS2 user, so I set up my Q68 to "look and feel" like an SMS2 system...

Re: SMSQ/2 on Atari

A bit of history (extracted from Tony Tebby's articles) and a screen shot. The screen shot is of the SMS2 cartridge actually running from a USB stick on windows 7. The odd thing about the SMS2 extract is Tony Tebby's assertion that it "never made it to market". It must have done because th...

Re: Passing channels to jobs

As I only program for the Q68 and I only want to compile BASIC programs I decided to modify pjw's code so that it would compile. After many failures (all sorts of things went wrong) I managed to compile one master and five slaves printing into the master's window and their own. As pjw said, SMSQ/E w...

I have decided to take the risk that you are not referring to me so, here goes:-
Can one compile your sample code with Qliberator set to no-win?. I have tried and failed.

Re: Passing channels to jobs

pjw your latest code samples and very useful associated notes look very interesting. When I find the time I will be cheekily converting your (much easier to read now you have added some : and REMs) code, into the form I like for compiling. As to your thoughts of this being useful, I would say it is ...

Re: Passing channels to jobs

Thank you pjw for your tips. I was in the middle of posting (directly into the forum editor) some thoughts when my post just vanished, not to be found again. This time I am writing it in Wordpad so that it can't happen again. Once I realised that your two code samples were designed to be interpreted...

Re: Passing channels to jobs

I downloaded pjw's Test.zip code and unziped it to ram1 in SMSQ/E. After a bit of faffing around I manged to EX (as interpret, I think) the two _bas programs successfully. I can sort of see what is going on but I do not use the SMSQ/E interpreter so the programs are not in a form I am familiar with....

Re: Passing channels to jobs

Thank you pjw, for your tips. What you mean by "Wrap your code in {code}{/code} tags (using square [ ] brackets!)" are you willing to elaborate? Does via a toolkit mean via a Knoware toolkit. If so which might it be ? If not, can a general purpose toolkit be written? pjw and emmbee have gi...

Re: Passing channels to jobs

I have finally written a program that actually works demonstrating two jobs writing to channel #2 concurrently. I have, though, cheated a bit by using the multitasking job "clock" to prove a point. The program shows that concurrent writing is technically possible but with one job written i...
