Re: Sinclair QL + QSound demo

spkr wrote: Sun May 26, 2024 8:18 am Hi there guys,

we have finished and released our latest Sinclair QL demo, which was a while in the making... It requires Stock QL (JSRom), 128kb memory and benefits from using a QSound expansion.
Wow, really impressive! Parts of your demo make me dream on how could Elite would have looked on QL!

Re: QSTAR 2

I didn't catch this, but my little boot program mock-up that runs both versions of QStar on one microdrive actually didn't work without the ROM version of Toolkit 2 installed (I had done it in an emulator, though I thought I had tested it by configuring with 128K and no ROM add-ons...curious). I us...

This looks interesting, was it written in Superbasic and compiled. If so would you post a copy.

QBITS
It is written in C - the source is in the link from Simon's first message on this page.

Re: QSTAR 2

There are (IMHO) two different kinds of toolkits: "Systems toolkits" and "ad hoc" ones. Systems toolkits are what one would expect most users to have loaded at boot, the main one being TK2. I agree with this. TK2 is a toolkit that should be present on all machines. .. and it doe...

Re: QSTAR 2

The switching of players is the variant I saw before. I think I like QStar 1 better. I made it through level 4 and that one took many tries. I also like how, once I make it through a level, if I come back to that level, even if it's only been a few days, it's still difficult to solve as there are s...

Re: QSTAR 2

I think there is an issue with the zip file. I download (like always) the Qstar2+Souce.zip file and move it to my BB QL. Then I use unzip 5.32 in order to unzip it. 1. The source files all failed to be unzipped 2. The rest of the files get unzipped but when run the boot, I get the bad parameter err...

QSTAR 2

QStar 2 - another logic puzzle game! It's a spin-off QStar 1, but with different game mechanics and only 10 levels, but harder. This time the Blocker cannot move - but it can switch position with the Hero And because is harder, it is possible to view a solution for the puzzle, not necessarily the on...

Review of the game at https://dilwyn2.wordpress.com/2024/05/09/qstar/ and it's now on my QL website's Games page.
Thank you, Dilwyn!

Re: QSTAR 1

I'm sorry Andrew, but I have to report a possible bug in QStar! I was using it in QPC2 v5.02 mode 32, resolution 1024x768, with QPC_QLSCREMU 8. The game runs OK until I press F1 to alter the animation delay. After doing that and returning to the game, the display is corrupted, see screen shot below...
