Re: Homebrew Sinclair QL ?

Sounds like a great idea. I'd go for something as close to the real thing as possible. Just replace the Ula's with cplds and the micro drives with a ql-sd clone. The 8049 will need some help of e.g. a small avr or pic controller to deal with a ps2 keyboard.

Go for it!

Re: QL on MIST FPGA board

I fully understand those wishes. And all of them are possible to implement with reasonable effort and with the existing MIST hardware (and by the way also on every other FPGA board). But: This needs to come from the QL community. I am by no means a QL fan. I've never even seen one in real life. I am...

Re: Microdrive image manipulation tools

That's sure all possible without too much effort. But I don't see a benefit justifying this.

Microdrive image manipulation tools

Hi, this is a small goodbye to you guys here. As a last resort to get anything interesting into the QL FPGA core i wrote two tools. Both available at https://github.com/mist-devel/mist-binaries/tree/master/cores/ql/tools qlem2qlay converts qlem MDV images into QLAY format for usage with e.g. my MIST...

Re: QL Commercial Software Preservation

Thanks for your detailed explanation.
RWAP wrote: Sorry I am not willing to simply hand that over - it makes no commercial sense whatsoever.
So it's actually money over preservation. This is the only explanation that really explains the current state. Thanks again.

Re: QL Commercial Software Preservation

I have various cracked versions ... That's imho a problem according to Chapter III, Article 6 in http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=OJ:L:2001:167:0010:0019:EN:PDF My point is: The way you are doing this doesn't seem to be 100% correct, anyway. So your goal of preservation already...

Re: QL Commercial Software Preservation

but there is no comparison to Microsoft Windows (where each "new" version that gets sold is different from the free updates service that Microsoft offers for minor bug fixes etc.). Microsoft sells new versions of it software just like anyone else did back in the days. If you wanted the ne...
