I well know the smoke smell: it's so terrible and difficult to neutralize. Many years ago a piece of wood of my kitchen burnt partially; it had been repaired, but still today it has some little smoke odour!

Which kind of dual HD drives set are you using? Is it a vintage device (designed for old machines like Spectrum, QL etc)? Or are you using a "new" one, containing "modern" floppy drives (the same used for PC)?

I can confirm that TrumpCard needs non-twisted flat cables for dual FDD.
Can anyone confirm if GoldCard needs twisted cables or not?

Just replaced IC23 with a "new" one and.... no evident progress.
Next step: apply the mandatory modifications adding R102 and R103. Let's hope....

My experience is limited, and I've never seen an issue like this. May I suggest you to provide more information meanwhile? This might help to detect the problem.
Do you use some kind of upscaler?
Have you tried to connect via RGB-SCART or antenna cable?
Have you already tried other displays?
