Alien Laser when copying

This is a feature of the Level 2/3 disc drivers. Unlike earlier drivers these do writes asynchronously because that is much faster. But then this also means that the call that ordered the write has already returned, so the driver cannot return an error retroactively! On Windows you would get an erro...

Re: QL SD

No to another batch, this version of QL-SD is too time consuming to produce for me. There might be a different version in the future for the ROM port that can be produced industrially without much manual labor, but that is just an idea right now.

Re: Problems printing from QPC to QPCPrint

I'm not yet on holiday, but soon. Regarding the crash, you should have gotten a mail with a later beta a month ago, please retest with that. I remember there was a problem, I just don't know exactly in which version. And yes, the printer selection in the config dialog is broken, thanks for noticing....

Re: QL SD

I got your order but didn‘t have time to check on it yet. I think I have one or two QL-SDs left, but it will have to wait until after my holiday, so about three weeks if you‘re willing to wait.

All the best, Marcel

Re: Themes

Yes Duncan, that's correct. Regarding the 15-bit RGB mapping, WMAN code is written device independent, so it needs to use the 24-bit TRAP calls to interface with the OS. For this to work there is a 5-to-8 bit RGB conversion table that maps the values 0..31 uniformly to 0..255. On the CON driver side...

Re: Issue 8 discussions...

Rereading the topic now and again. I wish to ask, what makes it different to hook 8302 on CPU data bus as with Iss#6 vs RAM bus in Iss#5, is there any performance gain? The RAM side of the bus is often occupied with RAM refresh, so communication to 8302 stalls every time the RAM is being refreshed....

Re: ALCHP and LOAD problem

You can also use RESPR if you want the memory to survive a NEW (it will try to use the resident procedure area but fall back to the common heap if that isn't possible).

Turbo extension comes with its own POKE_F that doesn't have quite as many features as the SMSQ version, so try not loading that.

Re: Announcing: The way, QLiberator use the PE

By the way, disassembling this was a fun little exercise, but essentially they rewrote WMAN in basic. At the level they're doing this it's fairly easy, but still this is not how one should code these days. Using EasyPtr and the real WMAN is always less work and the result will always work better!
