Re: Q68 QoE Ethernet Driver

My biggest concern about QDOS/Minerva, is if It might over fill the supervisor stack. I'm not sure if SMSQ/E has a bigger supervisor stack than QDOS. It has. Significantly. You are supposed to use not more than 64 bytes on the QDOS SV stack vs. 512 bytes on SMSQ/E. Interestingly, on both systems th...

The Computers that made Britain

Free pdf or 12GBP paper edition. Interesting book with chapters about each and every UK-made (and some that were not) home computer - and yes, the QL has one, too, with some interesting David Karlin insights and anecdotes. https://wireframe.raspberrypi.org/books/computers-that-made-britain Recommend...

Re: Mystery card reveal!

I seem to recall a Matthew Zenkar of Rochester, NY that I had some ZX80 / TS2068 mail exchange some 25 years ago. Maybe he also was into the QL?

Re: QL MicroDrive electrolytic caps

There doesn't seem to exist a current source for new (or NOS) mdv heads other than Sinclair Microdrives - And if you go that way, you can just as well do a complete unit replacement, normally. Not considering the hassle you might have to go through fo...

Re: QL MicroDrive electrolytic caps

Mdv heads are known to degrade or break over time - But before you're opening that can of worms, you probably try exchanging the caps first ;)

Re: QL MicroDrive electrolytic caps

And, more generally:

QLs don't normally suffer from bad capacitors (At least I've never seen one that had).

Exchanging them is a purely cosmetic activity, IMHO.

Re: Hungry Harry in Haunted House - mdv archaeology.

I do admit it's the cutest package design I've ever seen for a QL game ;)
