Aurora build thread...

Post by Dave »

The Auroras are coming! The Auroras are coming!

In this thread I'll post regular updates and photos as the build comes together.

Hopefully it will go something like the following:

The box will arrive and I'll catalogue what's there and what's missing. I'll spend about a month bringing all the missing parts together and start assembling the PCBs. Lots of photos.

Current stage: package shipped to me. ETA 2-3 weeks.

The Auroras are here! The Auroras are here!

I got the package this afternoon. Everything made the journey intact. I just need to clear some space then I'll post some photos. :)

Sorry guys....

Partly, I have been working my day job. The other part is I am looking for sockets for the RAM. That search isn't going so well - mostly reclaimed/desoldered parts of poor quality.

Here's the 20 bare PCBs plus three assembled PCBs with problems that I have received. the parts have all been sorted. The SMD RAM sockets get installed before any of the thru-hole parts, so until those come...

The socket is a request by Nasta - it looks like a fair proportion of problems with Auroras relate to RAM and he wants it to be easily maintainable.

In other news, I got my battery certification in the mail today!

*grins* I don't keep track of that stuff! I tried before, but with all the hold-ups...

Just keeping track of what hardware I owe to who is a full time job!
