Noisy MDV
Noisy MDV
The working MDV2 I fitted in my main QL is quite noisy (compared to the whisper quiet MDV1)
This is without any cartridge inserted and just typing dir mdv2_
With the lid off the noise is definitely the motor and I’ve tried adjusting the roller to no avail
Given it’s working (read/write/format) is it worth changing the motor with one from a donor MDV? Or is it best left alone given it’s fully working and the least used?
Any thoughts please?
Many thanks

Re: Noisy MDV
The only springs I was aware of are on the right of each mdv with the switch, but these don’t come into play if there’s no cartridge inserted?

Re: Noisy MDV
I had a noisy microdrive and resolved it using some 'slug slime' - a fine modelers lubricant - just a drop on the top and bottom of the motor, and run it for a while - it should quieten down.

Re: Noisy MDV
Was the problem a noisy motor? and the lubricant lubricated the motor drive shaft?
