Anyone heard from Marcel recently?

Post by NormanDunbar »

Marcel has been quiet on here for a while, I was wondering if anyone had heard from him recently. I hope everything is ok with him and his family.

Cheers,
Norm.

I'll put the lack of replies down as a "no" then! ;)

Last I heard, admittedly some time ago, he was just so busy with everything he had no time for QLing.

Thanks Dilwyn. I was wondering if he was just (!) busy.

Hope you are well. MrsD and I are in the process of moving back to Scotland, somewhere. Selling your house in England takes absolutely forever!

Cheers,
Norm.

I unfortunately have the same problem currently. Didn't have even setup my 2 wonderfully Q68 :-(

BTW: Where can I buy a (VGA capable) monitor with a resolution of 1024x768?

I needed one recently and found it hard to buy a new one.

I got lucky and bought a second hand one from someone on this Forum for my Q68, and for good measure I bought another second hand one from eBay for the QL I'd added a QIMSI and VGA adaptor to recently. The monitor on the QL is a Hanns-G HC154A, the other two are Iiyama ProLite E380S. Unfortunately, the Hanns-G monitor on the left of the picture does not show the Aurora or Q68 display correctly in some modes - the auto-adjust and alignment don't seem to be able to adjust well to some resolutions lower than 1024x768, but luckily it copes with the QL VGA adaptor.

So I now have a row of computers along one wall all with 15 inch (38cm) monitor:
  • a QL/GoldCard/QIMSI/VGA,
    a Q68 and
    an Aurora/Super Gold Card/Qubide/RomDisq
All of the monitors are currently at different heights and two non-matching desks until I can work something out, but much better than the old system where they were either scattered throughout the house or just set up ad-hoc.

I'm hoping there'll be a bit more QLing here over Christmas and the new year than has happened so far this year.

In case you cannot find a monitor with VGA connector, most cheap Chinese TVs seem to still have one.
