Tech Hunters: Feeling the need for speed with the Sinclair C5

Sir Clive Sinclair's electric vehicle was a flop, but people still love it.

Another case of "almost but not quite" for Sir Clive.

It was aimed at the wrong type of market really. Had it been sold as something to get about on seafront promenades, caravan sites, holiday sites etc it might have fared better. Or if cycle lanes had been as common back then it might have fared better as an electrically assisted bicycle (which people treated as a joke back then). But as with so many of Sir Clive's products, it did have its true and loyal fans, and many companies have since made a success of powered bicycles, etc.

Now a collector's item of course, and often modified too, or "pimped" as shown in this article http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... truck.html.

Or, do you fancy a 100mph rocket powered C5? https://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/06/1 ... owered_c5/

Ha ha ha! I particularly liked the flame throwing exhaust.
